I recently stumbled across the website FreeRice.com and absolutely love it!  It is a non-profit website that donates grains of rice to the hungry around the world in exchange for your FREE participation in their vocabulary trivia.  This wonderful website was started in 2007 by a man named, John Breen. ...

I am currently a teacher that insists that my classes mutli-task.  We are moving at different paces in my class and once the general part of the lesson is complete students may be doing many different things.  In my research for another project, I stumbled across a teacher that used this site as work...

I saw this on national news the other day and thought it was a wonderful idea.  Help educate kids and adults and it's challenging at the same time I was helping the United Nations with World Hunger.

On Free Rice: http://www.freerice.com/  Every word that you get correct you are helping donate 10 grains of rice.  Doesn't sound like much but it does add up and it helps others.

A third grade teacher found this website and thought it might be good in her class, but thinking it also might be to hard.  She was amazed at how wonderful the kids did and they knew they were helping people that didn't...

This web site is great.  You play a vocabulary game and for each word you get right they will donate rice through the United Nations.  The donated food is used to help end world hunger and all you have to do is play a game!  There is no need to donate any money and you can just play a few words at a time.  You are helping yourself and helping others all at the same time!

I don't normally find myself addicted to too many video games, but I really found this site hard to get away from.  The concept is simple: you go to the website, they give you a word, and you have to pick its synonym from a list of four words.  Each word you get right improves your vocab level and each word you get wrong lowers it.  For every word that you get right, 10 grains of rice are donated to the hungry.  The rice is paid for by the sites sponsors, which include all sorts of various companies.  There's no signing up to participate or personal information exchanged with the site....

The Free Rice game is awesome. A friend of mine sent me a link to the website and I've been hooked. I play it every day.

Not only does it challenge your brain and keep your vocabulary up to date, but it helps feed the hungry by donating rice to the UN World Food Program to help end hunger around the world.

I've even gotten my kids to play on a regular basis so they can feel like they're doing something to help contribute to society and help the hungry. It also helps them with their vocabulary, spelling and geography too.

I do wish the site would donate more than 10 grains of rice, as that just...

WHAT A GREAT SITE!  You feed starving folks by answering definitions of words on the site.  So you increase your vocabulary as you earn grains of rice to go to the UN to feed starving folks.

I got 120 hrains of rice in under 2 minutes, so join me in the fun at no cost to you.

I dislike computer games, but when I found Freerice.com, I almost became addicted. 20 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Food Program for each correct answer. When I substitute teach I let the students play this game @ snack time or if they have indoor recess. They love it! The level can be changed so the kids in the lower grades can play too. My favorite features are the fact that the level changes as you improve so the questions get more difficult, also the words or questions that you got wrong are repeated until you get them correct. You really have to check out the site fully to...

Free Rice is a wonderful word game that improves our vocabulary. Every time you have the correct meaning of a word 10 grains of rice are donated. I find it to be a great educational tool and recommend it to people of any age. If you make a mistake, the word will come back for another chance. This game can be played for a very long time as you watch the rice bowl fill. It is rewarding to know that I am helping others while learning and having fun.

Fun Rice is a worthwhile cause to support.

I found out about the freerice.com website from a magazine and decided to try it out. I'm glad I did because it is very fun. The main purpose of the site is to donate rice to the Un World Food Program. They donate 10 grains of rice for every answer you get correct. I always do the english vocabulary because I learn new words every time. I love trying to guess what some of the words mean. Most are easy because they usually give you one word that is fairly common and then you pick the definition from the choices. You can also change the subject. They have art, chemistry, math, language's, english,...

I found Free Rice a few months back from my teenage daughter.  I find it brain stimulating and intriguing.  Helping others while learning something yourself is a smart use of time.  There are words I've never seen or heard of but some of them I can make out fromt he multiple choice answers.  It also gives you second chances if you miss one.  I visit it about once a week and usually spend a longer amount of time than I initially intended with it.  It's definitely a favorite with me.

I couldn't get enough of this site when I first started playing.  I liked to see my little piles of rice add up while I exercised my brain by testing my vocabulary skills.  I still find it fun every once in a while though I get tired of playing more quickly now.  They do have a few other options like grammer and geography.  I hope in the future they add more games to keep people like me interested.

What a great concept! This is a simple vocabulary game with an incredible bonus. Everytime you guess the correct definition to a vocabulary word, the advertisers on the site donate 10 grains of rice to feed the poor in third world countries. Never before has it been so easy to do so much good! Check it out!!
