Fred Claus Review Summary

As we learn in this family holiday film, Santa has an older brother, his name is Fred and he ain't happy. Fred Claus stars the everyman Vince Vaughn as the older brother over Nick. Seems he's gotten himself tossed in the poke and can't get his girlfriend to answer the phone and bail him out. So, he calls brother Santa. Santa bails him out of jail and has him come to the north pole to work off his obligation. Fred promptly turns Santa's works shop into a big party, unaware the Claus' are being evaluated by consultants and could be shut down. This story of strained sibling rivalry has its moments, "There are many times where the movie is quite funny" as Fred turns the North Pole upside-down in his search for equality. Reviewers all enjoyed it, "I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a fun, lighthearted, Holiday comedy". Fred Claus is available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Fred Claus is not your typical holiday movie fare, as it shows the life of what would normally be a supporting character as the star of the film.  Nicholas Claus went on to become Santa Claus, but until now, we had not known that he had a brother, or what that brother has been up to all this time. ...

Vince Vaughn did a wonderful job in this film  ( I just love to watch that man 'shake' ).  There just aren't alot of new "holiday" films out right now and although I did like the acting in this movie and the scenes were full of eye candy. I just felt the plot was left wanting. I would not call this... read full review »

The 2 parts I just knew had to happen still surprised me because they did.  I loved the child from PSYCH! being Fred because he uses facial expressions uniquely and is a fantastic child actor.  Vince Vaughn did a marvellous job and I would give this 6 stars if I could.  Sibling rivalry was not as important as love and throughout the movie it was the mother's fault, not Nick which irritated Fred.  My 6 year old daughter knew Fred had  to do some changes and she loved this movie.
Rachel's accent and her happiness at the French teddy came across; the family car "perks" at the end is...

Fred Clause was great!
I really really liked this movie. We have always loved Vince Vaughn and he didn't dissapoint in this movie. His dry humor really shown through leaving us laughing throughout.
The rest of the cast was cast really well too. With Kevin Spacey, Kathy Bates, and more.
The movie held our interest from the very start, and didn't need to work into it.
The north pole, was done so well, with the elves cast as real people done on a small scale instead of using children for the elves. The head elf Willy was hilarious.
I would definitely recommend this movie through the holidays, however...

We loved this movie. We saw it as a family and laughed through it. It has a great story line and I think that it is great how they cam together as a family. Not to found of Mrs. Clause being a bit on the grouchy side. I have always had the image of a nice Mrs. Clause but this one started out a bit bitter towards the family member of her husband. I know that he was not the best brother in the starts but the Clause Family is meant to be loving and careing. But above all this movie was great and we will buy it when it comes out. We recommend it to all!!!

This movie was very funny.  Sure, it is a kids movie, but it defiantly translates for adults too. Some humor is acually only understood by adults.   I actually laughed out loud, more than once.  I would recommend that parents with very young children watch the movie before letting your kids watch.  Some content may not be okay for some very young viewers(0-5).  I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see a fun, lighthearted, Holiday comedy.

Vince Vaughn was hillarious as Santa's big, unknown, Brother.   The movie had a great message about forgiveness and happiness.  Santa finally realizes how hard it is being the big brother to an Icon.  Great family movie.

This particular movie is definitely worth seeing by the whole family. Not very many movies nowadays are that good and funny, with an interesting story to tell. Me, personnelly, I love Vince Vaughn in this movie. He's very charismatic and play his part just perfectly. I also love Kevin Spacey's work. What could I say? Go and see it for yourself!!!

When I saw the previews I wanted to see this movie, so when it opened in my town some friends and I went to see it. Waste of money. What we saw advertised was the funniest part of the whole movie. There were a few funny parts, but they were few and far between. At one point both of my friends fell asleep, and if it hadn't been so cold in the theater I would have too. The kids in the theater didn't seem that interested either. The story drags and is pretty typical in that Fred gets into trouble and turns to his brother, Santa, for help. There is the typical before Christmas disaster with Fred saving... read full review »

This movie was very family friendly without any sexual content and hardly any fowl language if any at all.  I thought it was a little corny, which is usally fine with me because I love corny Christmas movies, though also a little bit drab at the beginning.  The movie portrays Fred, Santa's brother, as very unhappy and it doesn't really uplift your spirits like many Christmas movies normally do.  I do think it had a cute ending though and there were still some laughs throughout due to Vince Vaghn but if you are expecting another "Elf" movie you will probably be dissapointed.  Overall...

This was a great movie to see before the holidays. It really got my family into the spirit. We love holiday movies, and we will definitely own this one. There were a few predictible parts, but most movies have those nowadays. Everyone in my family (son, 14, daughter, 18, my husband and I) laughed several times during the film, and I even cried once! Some complaints are that two of the elves are digitally made smaller and, to some people, it was obvious. I can usually spot details like that, and I didn't notice at all until it was brought to my attention.

I would definitely recommend this film to...

My boyfriend and I took my 4-yr old grandson and his 9-year old son this weekend, both of whom fell asleep. It was all I could do to stay awake. This movie is definitely not for kids nor was it entertaining for me. The storyline is completely predictable and slow. Santa's older brother disassocites himself from the family because Santa is the favorite. Later Fred gets in financial problems and of course turns to Santa for help. And oh what a surprise, Christmas ends up in jeopardy and Fred saves the day.

We watched the movie Fred Clause  with our 7, 5, 3, and 2 year old. They all loved it! It kept the holiday spirit alive with the believing of Santa Claus. Would definitly recomend this movie to watch as a good family movie! It did have my 7 year old asking lots of questions about Santa Clause. If it was the real Santa in the movie? If that's what the North Pole looks like? Why is there so many elves? But over all there was no cussing, no foul language at all. No vulgar remarks of anykind.

I enjoyed Fred Clause.  I went with my Dad and husband, and they thought it was ok.  I know it hasn't gotten the greats reviews from critics but I think it succeeds at what it sets out to achieve - create a family friendly movie about Christmas and a change of heart.  There were enough funny moments, and plausable plot lines, for me to give this film four stars.  I also really liked the end - and both my Dad and husband agreed about that.  It had a surprisingly touching end.

I saw many previews for Fred Claus. I love the actors in this movie especially Vince Vaughn and Kathy Bates.  The comedy clips were hilarious. My two children ages 11 and 14 were as anxious as I was to see this movie on opening weekend. We were very disappointed!! The jokes in the trailer for the movie are the only funny scenes you will find in Fred Claus. The movie is a clean family movie with a good theme and ending. Where were the funny scenes??

Fred Claus was one on the very best movies I have seen this year.  We took our 13 year old and two of his friends there for his birthday.  We all enjoyed the movie even with all the changes that have come to our day and time, when kids and adults live in two different worlds , we all found this movie funny, heartwarming and a good evening.  Take your family out to see it and enjoy .
