Angela's Ashes is a gripping account of an impoverished Irish immigrant family in the United States. It is written with a truthfulness that makes the reader simultaneously joyous and sad.
I was compelled to continue reading, whatever the hour, because I identified so closely with the writer.  I wished him and his hard-working family a way out of their troubles and success in their new world.
