Francine Rivers - Redeeming Love Review Summary

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is a Christian-themed historical romance novel based on the biblical Old Testament book of Hosea. This is the story of Michael Hosea, a man living in California in the 1850s. He prays for God to lead him to his future wife only to stumble upon Angel, a young woman who, through a tragic series of life events has become a prostitute. Rivers uses the story of Angel and Micheal to demonstrate God's unconditional love. As one reviewer noted, " It has romance, suspense, drama, and God's truth all rolled up into one superb story" Redeeming Love is a powerful, uplifting story with the message that no one is beyond redemption. It is also so well written that, "Even if you aren't into christian fiction you might want to give this book a try because it is a great page turner with characters anyone can relate to."

This is one of Francine River's best! This is a fiction story taken from the biblical story of Hosea. It is beautifully written and keeps a reader's interest well into the last chapter. It is captivating and enriching. For anyone who likes the Christian Fiction genre, this is the book for you. It has romance, suspense, drama, and God's truth all rolled up into one superb story.

Redeeming Love is a beautiful book about God's unconditional love.  It's about a young woman who seems unsavable, yet is ultimately healed.  If you've ever been hurt, if you've ever felt unlovable, unworthy, uncared for - this book is a reminder that God goes beyond anything that could ever be done to you or by you, and that through Him we can all heal and be restored to our true selves.  That no matter what ugliness or pain has been in our past, we can find happiness and love and beauty.

This book stirs my heart as a woman, and gives me hope that someday I can be a truly beautiful daughter for...

Ordinarily, I'm not into fiction.  But this book was highly recommended by a friend and published author, so I couldn't pass it up.  I devoured this book in two days (all 450+ pages of it).  I couldn't put it down.

The setting for REDEEMING LOVE is the California gold country of the 1850's.  The main character was sold into prostitution as a child and abandoned by her mother.  A man named Michael Hosea asks the Lord to show him his future wife and is suprised when he feels led to this prostitute.  Through a period of time, he convinces her of his unconditional love and her wounds slowly heal....

The first day I bought this book, I sat on my desk and told myself I'd just read a chapter before I go to bed. That was 9pm. No matter how hard I tried, I could not put the book down. I found myself teary eyed, reading the ending, at 5am the next morning. Intending to read just the first few pages, I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting (with one bathroom break!).

Everytime Angel would run away from Michael's love, I would say, "you stupid, ungrateful woman!" But as I was reading, God reminded me of all the times when I myself would backslide from my faith, thinking that I could make...

Redeeming Love is the first Christian fiction book that I've been able to read cover to cover. I was so impressed by this book and the wonderful message Ms. Rivers gets across! I have even given this book as a gift because it's a real page turner. Because I loved this book so much I'm scared to try to pick another for fear of being disappointed. :)

Even if you aren't into christian fiction you might want to give this book a try because it is a great page turner with characters anyone can relate to.

Happy Reading!

I read this book for the first time at the recommendation of a good friend of mine. I was floored! This is just about the best book I've ever read. it really spoke of God's love for ALL people and helped me through a rough time in my live. Ms. Rivers is an awesome writer. She used to write Romance novels and then became a Christian and wants to help everyone come to Christ. It's not a Hokey story, but it does speak often of God's Love. I will be reading this book over and over for the rest of my life!

This book is replica story of Hosea in the Bible.  It needs to be read by every adult woman there is.  Thought provoking, heart wrenching, suspenseful and an incredible message behind it.  It IS intense, and it CAN BE offensive, but reality is, this stuff is happening right in our neighborhoods DAY IN and DAY OUT and we need to REACH OUT to these women in this very situation!  Incredible, breath taking book!  Would read it over and over.

I've read ALL Francine Rivers' books but have found this to be one of her most touching. Just about everyone can relate to the experience of trying to make a good choice only to be tripped up again and again by our own self. Angel's plight grabs you from the start, makes it impossible to stop reading and long after you finish reading, you still carry the story with you. Highly recommend!!

Francine Rivers is the most talented Christian author. She creates a story and brings you into the story as if you are there to watch it on screen or in real life. The movie touches on all facets of human love and romance and the overwhelming redeeming love of our God. I love to read any of her books. She writes such great tales that have so much application to our own lives today. She shows us the power of God's love no matter how hard we try to run away from Him. Thank you to Francine Rivers for such a wonderful book.

This book brings to light the horror of sin and the power of love. It is difficult to read at times, and yet so compelling it is hard to put down. I have never read another book that so captures the Redeeming Love of God, outside of the Bible itself. Roughly based on the book of Hosea from the Bible, Redeeming Love will capture your heart and stir your soul.

This is the first book I ever read by Francine Rivers, and it is soooo good! I couldn't put it down! (which I listed as both a pro and a con because it is hard to get anything else done!) Rivers is extremely talented at bringing biblical stories and principles to life and revealing God and His attributes. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

When I first read this book, I was on my way to St. Louis. I picked it up and didn't put it down until we reached our destination. More then once I blinked back tears, swallowed back sobs, and mentally yelled at Angel for leaving Michal. This story brought emotions to surface that I didn't even know I could express. Franciene Rivers is one of the best authors I have ever encountered. In most of the books I have read, you know what's going to happen. After a while, it gets pretty old. Not in this book however. She threw in plot twist after plot twist that I NEVER saw coming. I also loved the way... read full review »
