Forsyth Technical Community College is perfect for anyone from the recent high school graduate to the 66-year-old who has just discovered she doesn't want to sit at home all day! There are many other degrees available, but I would like to speak specifically of the Associate Degree in Nursing program.
As a student fresh out of high school, I felt overwhelmed with all the information I was asked to absorb, and very intimidated by the idea of caring for a patient with various ailments. The instructors understood and even expected this, and provided just the right amount of support and encouragement when needed. They fostered independent thinking and practice, but I always felt they were there to help me succeed, not there to try to make me fail.
I graduated from the ADN program in 1987, and have worked in the Obstetrics and Gynecology field ever since. Of course, I didn't learn everything I would ever need to know about nursing, but I feel that I received a solid knowledge base that I have been able to build on throughout my years of practicing as a nurse.
