Ford escort zx2 - 1998 Review

Wow!  I can't believe the previous reviews.  I have had my car since 2000, when I bought it off of a dealer who used it to travel cross country for 2 years.   Mine is a 5 speed (manual trans).

I have figured out the mileage on this car, and no wonder he used this one to travel...I get up to 36 miles per gallon on the freeway, and between 27 and 30 mpg on city streets.  It is the most reliable car I have ever had.

I do most of the maintenance on this car myself, and the only complaint is that the air filter is a drag to change...everything is so tight in that area.

I have changed the tires, brakes, wipers, oil, spark plugs, and air filter.  I re-charged the a/c freon through the dealer.  I have never had to purchase another part for this car, including the battery.  My car is going on 10 years old in the next month.  Amazing.

I have used this car for 5 years in cold weather (WI) and almost 3 in hot (NM).  No difference.  I love the way this drives, and have used it to travel thousands of miles rather than fly in an airplane.

Yes, it's not the most passenger friendly for more than 2 people.  BUT I can count on one hand the amount of times that I have really needed to transport more than another individual in my car.  It's certainly not a family car.

I love my car, and will never drive another 'til this one konks out on me.  Knock on wood, now that I said that.  It's the best ever.
