I shopped every SUV and crossover out there before settling on my Explorer XLT. After adding leather seats and heated seats, I had a car that looked like my car! It wasnt until I hit a deer head on doing 60mph that I really came to appreciate my Explorer. While the front end was "toast" (headlights lighting the night sky but not the road) I was able to drive it home and was completely unhurt!!
My gas mileage has been great for a midsize SUV. Hwy miles approach 24mpg and daily driving is over 20mpg. The car is easy to drive and comfortable for 4 large adults plus luggage, dogs, or whatever I've found at the antique store. The sound system is great too and with the option of 6 cds, I can program a whole trip worth of music.
I want a car that I can get in and not have to worry about getting from point A to B since I live in the country where seasons are extreme and being stranded on the side of the road could be a lonely experience with no cell phone coverage. Winter driving in my Explorer is totally secure with anti skid and automatic 4X4 that kicks in as needed. I'm totally happy with my Explorer and expect it to be in the "family" for many years to come!
