A few months ago, I reviewed a product called Flents Wipe 'n Clear Premoistened Lens Wipes which at that time were doing a terrific job of cleaning eyeglasses and other things as well. Flents worked well because the formula they were saturated with was composed of three elements: soap, water, and alcohol which caused any residue of the solution to evaporate quickly and without streaking. I thought I would use Flents forever and then ... I assume as an economy measure ... the company that manufactures them started leaving out the alcohol. In case you were wondering if it is a good idea to try to clean glasses with just soap and water, you need contemplate no longer ... such a combination doesn't work at all or not very well. So it was time to switch products again. It was at this point that I recalled the little bottle of For Eyes Optical Eyeglass Lens Cleaner which I had purchased the last time I bought eyeglasses. It had worked pretty well and, as it turns out, this stuff is on sale over the For Eyes Optical website.
The contents of this product appear to be a closely-guarded, clandestine secret -- no information is given either on the bottle itself or the website -- but it works beautifully with a formula which I suspect closely resembles that of Flents in their glory days. (Cautionary Note: For Eyes Optical Eyeglass Cleaners are NOT intended for use with contact lenses.)
MY VIEWPOINT:
Unless you wear eyeglasses, it may be hard to appreciate how important an efficient and easy-to-use cleaner is as part of a daily routine. I was deeply disappointed with the company that manufactures Flents but For Eyes Optical Eyeglass Cleaner seems to be getting the job done and it can be purchased online too. The customer is presented with three different options: Spray Bottles in either 1 oz. ($1.99) or 3 oz. ($3.49) sizes, the Refill Value Pak for $5.49 or the convenient Pre-Moistened Wipes ($4.99 for 21, OUCH!). For Eyes also is hawking Micro Fiber Zig Zag Cloths for use with For Eyes Optical Eyeglass Cleaner.
