Fool's Gold Review Summary

Fool's Gold seems to do just what its name implies. While some Viewpoints reviewers are pleasantly surprised to find a nice little treasure, others feel fooled, being disappointed that it was rated PG-13, yet still had brief nudity, and felt the "producers hired Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey to do a tropical treasure flick, then pulled someone off the street and told them to write a script." Not everyone minded it being loose on plot, as the beautiful Caribbean provided some great scenery, not to mention McConaughey, who is "entirely engaging when onscreen, similar to his turn in We Are Marshall. Male reviewers even found Fool's Gold to be "just enough more than a chick flick."

Worth Seeing

Budget shopper, watching chick flicks, a comedy fan

Worth the money to see — I could'nt wait for this to come out. I thought that the chemistry between Matthew and Kate in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days was fantastic. I was so pumped when I knew that they'd be working together again. — The first 20 minutes was Matthew topless who could not like that. I think that the surfer look works for him. Don't waste your time or you money!

This movie was awful. There were so many scenes that were just plain stupid, not funny at all, and had no point to the plot. It was like the producers hired Kate and Matthew to do a tropical treasure flick then pulled someone off the street and told them to write a script. The character of Gemma is supposed to be a ditz but they go so above and beyond with her idiotic lines that I wanted the girl to get shot. I saw this this past frozen spring when all I wanted to do was hop down to the Carribbean and bask in the warmth. That was lucky for me, since this movie was all about scenery and went light on plot. But then again, it was a Matthew McConaughy film, whaddya expect- certainly not Shakespeare!! — The beaches and water shots were beautiful (even if they were shot in Australia, not the Carribbean). Matt and Kate are so great together... I saw Kate on Rachel and she talked about when they filmed it. I loved the scenery, the ocean waters... Looking at one of the other reviews before writing mine, i have to agree it does make me thing of a new version of Romancing the Stone... I just love there chemistry together, they make me want to be there in those waters... Actually when i got married i lived in Guam made me think of when we use to go snorkeling there... I didn't really know what the movie was going to be about. Easy to understand, funny to watch. Fool's Gold is a must-buy. Makes you want to become a treasure finder too. Love the scenery. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are a great team. When I saw it was both I knew it would be a good movie after watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 days. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I was dragged to this movie kicking and screaming with the assumption of chick-flick in mind.
