I was wandering around in net land and came across a new cooking and food community web site called Food Pals - foodpals.com. I clicked around, and Food Pals is kind of like My Space, but it's not general and wild. It's all about food and cooking but also other interests shared by the various cooks who hang out there. Just a warm and friendly space for those who enjoy cooking.

After clicking around, I decided to join up. It's nice to find folks who share your interests. My boys really are not all that excited about my food and cooking talk. They do, however, really like to eat.

When I signed up, I got a free e-cookbook - "World's Finest Quick & Easy Recipes: 197 Surefire Dishes in Under 30 Minutes." The e-cookbook is free with sign up. No strings attached. It's a neat cookbook that you simply download on your computer from an email link they send.

There are various internal groups you can join, so if you need specific type recipes or have a particular interest, you can just click and join. You can even start your own group if you don't see what you're looking for.

There are spaces to blog - about food or just what's going on with you. And you can upload photos from your computer. Some of those are food shots. Many are family photographs. That's easy to do and fun.

One of the nicest features is "Your Cookbook." Any recipe you post goes in your cookbook, and you can click and add ones that others post and that you want to try out. Nice way to organize your recipes and also good bookmarking when you see something you want to try out later.

The owner of the website is Ron Douglas. I got in touch. Really nice guy. That's his photo that I put up.

Ron has a MBA in finance, but he started writing cookbooks. Now he's a stay at home Dad and works on his cookbooks and his food and cooking web sites.

For anyone who likes to cook and share recipes, I'd say check out Food Pals. It's a fun place with nice people. I'm signed up as Cyndi Allison - but no spaces. Look me up if you visit. Sometimes it's easier to check out a space when there's a familiar face. But the folks at Food Pals are very friendly, so it's not hard to join in.
