Is it just me or has the flavor, softness, and texture changed with wonder bread? I love wonder bread, but it seems to have a sourdough smell and flavor now. The texture is almost coarse. I miss the softness it used to have, like fresh baked bread.

What does everyone else think?

I thought "Wonder Bread" is gone. I loved "Wonder Bread" so much until we stopped seeing it at the markets, so now we get "Sarah Lees Soft and Smooth."

No, Wonder Bread is not gone, it is still here in Iowa.

I still see Wonder bread on the shelves. We buy multigrain breads not Wonder Bread so I can't tell you about the flavor, softness, or texture. When I was a child this was the bread we usually used.

I still buy wonder and I haven't noticed a change, but then with 5 kids I buy what is on sale and it may be a different brand all the time. So, maybe I just haven't paid as close attention.

PS...We are in VA and my mom is in OH and we both have Wonder bread at the stores and Wonder bakery outlet stores. You can't beat the prices on the day old Hostess and Wonder products.

I was wondering - have you noticed a change in it's flavor, texture and smell the way lorihall2861 has?

Did you know that in the Hostess Thrift stores, the "day old" is not always day old. Look at the date, some of it is fresh and they had too much for the route drivers that day. So, you definitely can't beat the price of day old for fresh bread.

My dad found Wonder Bread again, and I also thought it is different. It's not as soft as it used to be. It used to stick to the roof of your tongue before and tasted smooth and delicious.

I have a friend who consideres wonderbread to be more of a dessert item rather than a bread. He calls it cake. I dont eat white bread so I can not comment on the changes, but I wouldnt be suprised if they changed the formula. Dont they make a whole grain wonderbread now?

I don't even see Wonder Bread anymore. They don't advertise it either. But the last time I tried it, it didn't seem like the bread I remember as a kid. However, I don't think they have changed the way it is made, I think it's just a perception.

<~~ Works for Insterstate Bakeries now known as Hostess Brands, Inc.. However, our bread has not changed. Maybe it is where you are buying it or the packaging has changed. If you notice a difference, go to the website and tell us about it! wonderbread.com/contact. We love hearing feedback and maybe they will contact you personally! Thanks!

I see Wonder Bread on the shelves here, but I haven't tried it in a while. They also have a whole wheat version that my Mom gets. It's soft, but just looks like Wonder Bread dyed tan (no grains). I wonder if it's really healthier.

We have Wonder Bread still. I always like Merita better with holes and odd shapes now and then like homemade. After living overseas, I am not so keen on white bread at all, so I don't know if they changed Wonder and other white breads or if I just got used to more complex breads with more robust textures.

I grew up eating Wonder Bread as did my children. I no longer use white bread. I have been using multi-grain bread and sourdough. Have not checked Wonder Bread to see if there is now a wider variety. That is the deciding factor.

Went to the wonderbread website at wonderbread.com, clicked on contact and the screen goes black. Logged out, tried again, same thing, tried email, screen went black again, could view everything else hoping to get a connection to the contact portion with no results.

Must be your computer, LoriHall2861, try and search for wonderbread and then try and click-thru the link that it gives you. Or, you can call our Headquarters in Dallas, TX at 972-506-7501 and get someone in Customer Relations.

Lol, who knows what went on. Glad to see that you got through okay. Did you contact anyone or fill out the form?

I do not like wonder bread. I prefer a denser bread with nuts and seeds.

Filled out the form on the website. Did not really have complaint per say, just wanted to know if they had changed anything since the taste, smell and texture were different. My ex husband used to be a Wonder Bread route driver and would get the bread fresh off the truck and it was wonderful. Fresh and soft! Yum! As a kid I loved to eat the crust first then ball up the middle part and eat it like a ball of dough. Mmmmmm!

Lol, I used to do the same thing. Maybe now that you don't get it right off the truck it's been sitting on the shelves longer and that's what's causing the problem?? I get bread from work all the time and it still tastes the same.
