I am a major foodie.  I live to eat, not eat to live.  My little world revolves around food, so I thought it would be interesting to know what your last meal would be.  What are your absolute favorite foods that you would just have to have on your last day?

I would have a spicy seafood pasta with shrimp, lobster and crab in a blackened alfredo sauce, cheesy garlic bread, a rib-eye steak, homemade mac & cheese and a carne asada burrito.  For a drink, I would want champagne and for dessert a piece of Mississippi Mud Pie.

mmm...tandoori shrimp, yep I'm a shrimp girl too...tandoori chicken, peas pullao, naan bread and papadam.   All Indian cuisine.  Plus some enchiladas.  And a T-bone.  And probably other things I'll think of later.

And yes, I'd have that drink I haven't had in over 20 years LOL.  I'd have a tall glass of Bailey's over crushed ice and a margarita w/top shelf tequila, Cuervo Gold.  For desert, Key lime pie, the whole pie.

:)

Can you pass the garlic bread and Mississippi Mud Pie please!

I tried to think about what I would want but my list would take forever lol I can't just choose a few things!

Well I'll give you a clue. For the second time recently we'll be getting 4 pound lobsters Sat. night - each!

Definitely lobster with butter, then prime rib or rib eye steak smothered in mushrooms and onions, a loaded baked potato and probably, if I had the room I'd want something pasta, like a big heaping dish of spaghetti with meat-sauce, garlic bread and good wine.

For desert, chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate in all forms.  Burp! pardon me ;)

MRSverret, you will have to do better than that!  :)

A large steak I grilled myself covered in sauteed baby portabellas. A big bowl of skinned grapefuit, chilled and kept on ice. A cucumber salad with oil and vinegar.

A giant slice of ice cold, vine-ripened watermelon for desert.

To wash it down, ice water and an extra-large Coke ICEE.

Then I want to die exactly like the guy Selma Hayek wasted in "From Dusk Til Dawn".

Not that I've given it much thought....

Assuming I'm still able to eat solid food and not have to worry about spices, fat content, etc.?

Probably "Chinese" food; I love most dishes from "Chinese" food restaurants, even though I know the cuisine is actually American (San Francisco was the birthplace of Chinese food as we know it).

Let's just assume that you will pass out and die immediately after eating your "last meal" so you can eat whatever you want :)  Eat anything, because after my last meal I'm probably going to puke!

OK I can't give a full list but it would definitely involve a steak with sautéed bell peppers and onions, boiled crawfish, sweet cornbread, baked potato with butter, cheese and bacon bits. Chicken and sausage jambalaya, my mom's rice and gravy, homemade rolls from Danny's (local fried chicken place) Smothered pork loin, spearmint tea and vanilla dr pepper to wash it down and for dessert, cajun brownies. - assuming I could eat all of that =)

Oh man, this is a difficult choice... I'd want to eat so much of everything because I love food!!!

I would definitely want some sort of seafood, probably grilled scallops or lobster with drawn butter. Yummy yummy. I'd also want those delicious cheese biscuits Red Lobster serves... OMG, to die for.

Stuffed bell peppers would be awesome, as would homemade mac and cheese. Mmm... a grilled veggie panini wouldn't be too bad either, now that I think about it!!

For a beverage, I'd choose iced green tea (non-alcoholic) and a Bellini (alcoholic.) I fell in love with Bellinis in Vegas and have been wanting them again ever since!

Finally, dessert would be a piece of New York Style cheesecake drizzled with raspberries and/or Dutch Apple Pie with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.

What the heck are Cajun brownies?  I couldn't eat all of mine if I wanted to, but it's a "last meal" so if I die eating my favorite foods, I'm a happy camper :)

Cajun brownies are a secret family recipe. It's sort of like a blondie more than a brownie. And they are soooo good!

Me, lets see. It would have to be lobster and the butter would have to have a candle under it. Love it when it's hot. Prime rib, baked sweet potato w/brown sugar & butter. Linguine with butter and garlic sprinkle some parm. cheese on top with Italian seasoning, alright throw in some shrimp.  A piece or two of baby back ribs, the melt in your mouth that you can't resist. Nice warm dinner roll smothered in butter (starting to feel like Paula Dean~butter~butter~butter). My stuffed mushrooms, filled with shrimp, lobster, mozz. cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning,  and once again butter drizzled over them just til the cheese gets browned. YUM! For dessert it would have to be my coconut cream pie....yum...yum...yum...and maybe some Creme Burlie! The bomb!! Because if I ate some of all of that I would probably explode...LOL.... I'm sure I could think of more, but lobster being the main dish for me!

darlyn63, I will have to say that next to my "last meal", yours is the best.  The stuffed mushrooms is probably what put it over the top, they sound wonderful!  The lobster doesn't sound too bad either :)

I'm very much NOT a foodie. Eating to me is kind of like...I gotta do it, hurry up so I can go back to doing other things. It's been so long since I ate stuff I really love, I can't even think of many things that would matter. I know they would involve cheese since I love it and never touch it. And probably cheesecake for the same reason. Maybe good homemade mac and cheese with the crumbly top, cheesecake freshly made (not boxed, gag) with a bowl of fresh strawberries sliced on the side. Ummm....those tiny little macaroni beads (What are they called? It'll come to me) with real butter and salt and garlic powder (Weird but it's a childhood fave). Meat means nothing to me although I do eat meat.

I have thought many times about why people even have a last meal before they die. I mean...I would rather do so many other things than eat for 30 minutes or however long they give you. But I was ALWAYS this way. As a kid, I rarely ate and had to be reminded and to this day, I automatically just don't eat certain things even as splurge.

But maybe linguine with white clam sauce and butter would be tasty. (I see I like pasta, butter, and cheese. Exactly what I ate as a kid!). Oh and maybe fried something. I eat nothing fried so fried cheese sticks wold fit right in and fried mushrooms too. Yeah I would like those.

Just the the thought of all that makes me nervous. I would be a corpse with clogged arteries. lol.

Edit: Oh yeah! Add a dozen Red Lobster cheese biscuits. GAWD those are amazing and I limit myself to one half of one when I really want at least 3 so yeah pile on those cheese biscuits.

Patty, you know I think highly of you right?  With that said, we could never be close friends!  J/K.  Eating is a huge part of my life and it's something I like to enjoy with other "foodies".  Your "little macaroni beads" with butter, salt and garlic powder sound good.  I LOVE pasta :)  I sell Tastefully Simple Perfect Parmesan Biscuits that are just like Red Lobsters, so if you ever want to splurge, just let me know.  Life's short - eat something delicious!

O.K. ladies no fighting here please....LOL...

I really don't eat that much either, I'm like PattyTherre I have to remind myself also. Like today, I haven't had one meal. I forget to eat but since thistoshallpassed asked, I thought about the foods I use to eat, and on rare occasions I do. Once, maybe twice a year. I'm not much of a meat eater, but a nice piece of prime rib w/Aus jus, sauted mushrooms,  sounds good. Haven't had that in ages. Lobster my hubby like to take me out for Mother's day or B-Day for that, and they have those rolls you like PattyTherre. :)  The stuffed mushrooms are to die for, you two would love them! I usually make them around the Holidays, a ton of them and then they are gone. Surprised me, my picky daughter will eat them~GO FIGURE!  And if you are a size 2.......Well, shame on you! I'm not sure I can stand you either....J/K

BOY, IS THIS A GREAT IDEA FOR A THREAD OR WHAT!!!!!!!

There are so many things I love that it is hard to decide but today I went out to lunch with somebody at Winberie's and had the best darned "Hearty Chili".  Besides the regular chili ingredients, this stuff had in addition to ground beef, chunks of sirloin and also Italian sausage, plus a dash of red wine, melted cheese on top and a final dash of fresh chopped green onions.  Then they heated it all again until the cheese melted.

So I would love that for my last meal and (since this is my last meal and I wouldn't have to worry about calories, right?), I'll take a fresh tomato sliced up, a big piece of cornbread, a dish of premium Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream for dessert and oh yah, a COUPLE Marguaritas.  I've never had more than one of those but I'm guessing a couple would help me to just sleep through whatever is going to make this my last day

Great idea -- I suspect this is going to be a long thread!

Am I the only one who wouldn't be able to eat a bite if it were my last day on Earth?  I have such a nervous stomach, I can't eat before a band concert or a job interview or anything stressful or when I'm nervous.  So I guess my last meal would be a glass of water LOL.

It amazes me how condemned prisoners can have any appetite on their last day on earth but they are very specific about what they want to eat and they always put it all away. It's probably that same short sightedness that put them in the jam they were in.

I agree, I could not be thinking about food at the zero hour. I think this thread is more about what is your favorite fantasy meal, give or take a sudden death.

Interesting how so many of these responses include seafood. In Maine, decades back, there was a policy in the state prison that you could not serve prisoners lobster for dinner more than once a week. Human rights violation. Fine dining at its best and they didn't want it.

I agree, what I mentioned would be a fantasy meal. I'm like buggheart, nervous tum tum. I can't eat either. I just was putting all my favorites together. Chili and cornbread sounds good. A good bowl of french onion soup with the bread & cheese just golden sound yummy also.

This I guess if you didn't know it was going to be your last meal to me. Fantasy is the better way Rustaddsflavor to put it, very good thinker! Nancy gave you some marbles didn't she?  LOL

I think this may be one of the reasons that God in His wisdom usually doesn't let us know when our last day comes up -- He doesn't want us to just waste it, thinking about what's coming next.

LOL. My sisters hate me too because I order a salad and soup when we go to dinner and they feel funny ordering pasta Alfredo but that's just me. I conditioned myself to simply not see the stuff I like and not crave it so that I don't gain weight or end up with high cholesterol or other health issues. But there are times when I just want to say oh to heck with it and have 5 cheese biscuits.

I may order some of the ones you sell. My whole family loves those Red Lobster ones and fight over them when we go out to dinner.

You look pretty thin to me. You must have a fast metabolism or workout like crazy! My metabolism was so fast as a kid that my parents were scared I would break into two pieces. Now, with my thyroid issues, if i sniff a cupcake, I'll gain three pounds. HATE IT.
