Florida's newest state university is located in sunny Fort Myers, Florida. FGCU (Florida Gulf State University) is situated in a piney tract of land less than an hour from the beaches. The entire area is hospitality-driven, and good help is hard to find.

That's how FGCU's degreed Hospitality Program became a reality. General Managers at several area hoteliers, including the Ritz Carlton of Naples and Sanibel Harbour Resort, approached the university's president about starting the program. Study in the Sunshine State

a serious student, a good test taker, paying for school, willing to learn

I moved from Indiana to Florida in 1997, the same year FGCU opened its doors. I watched as two of my friends/coworkers successfully completed the MSW program. They have since implemented a Counseling program, which is what my degree is in. I have been able to take courses at FGCU that I missed when I was at my previous university. It is an easy campus to maneuver because it is relatively small and compact. Most of the professors have their doctoral degrees and are also working in their fields in some manner so the classroom includes real-world experience.
