I am allergic to cats, dogs, dust, pollen, and a bunch of other stuff. I started suffering from allergies back when I was in high school and they seem to have become worse over time. Although I take Zyrtec-D (allergy tablets with decongestant) daily, there are times where I need something else to help control my congestion. My doctor prescribed Flonase Nasal Spray to help me when the allergies are really bad.
This nasal spray contains an anti-inflammatory (fluticasone propionate) that reduces swelling in the nasal passages. Flonase is non-habit forming and can improve symptoms within 12 hours. The recommended dose is two sprays per nostril once a day. Each bottle contains 120 metered sprays which means that it will last for one month with regular use.
The common side effects of this medication are headaches, sore throat, and nosebleeds. I have experienced a bloody nose many times while using Flonase, but not actual nosebleeds. If I blow my nose, though, I often find blood mixed into the mucus. When I use this product daily, it tends to dry me out so much that I wind up with the blood. The good news about this allergy medication is that it doesn't make you jumpy nor does it make you sleepy. Life goes on as normal when you are taking Flonase Nasal Spray.
The retail price of Flonase was close to $100 but it is now available in a generic form which makes it affordable for anyone. I would suggest this product to anyone who has regular or seasonal allergies. It's easy to use and very effective.
