I am an online journal user, and I found Flickr through other online journal users in my community. I've used Snapfish before, and KodakGallery. . . all the familiar ones. I find that my biggest need is not printing photography, but storing photography. A lot of the standard photo storage sites require purchase. . . and there's no real sharing of photos. Meaning, I could only store my own albums, but I couldn't see what others were doing. It just got boring.
When I first started using Flickr, I really wasn't sure what to do with it. It didn't take long before I *really* got into it--not only posting my own photos, but posting them in groups and then checking out everyone else's takke on the same subject. I actually made some online "friends," and I go on there about ten minutes every day just to check it out. I'll see my contacts new photos, and it's basically like an online pictoral journal.
Flickr is awesome. Not only is it a really good, positive community, but it's free. How can you beat that??
