We stayed at the Flamingo for three nights in July 2006.  The Flamingo has one of the absolute best locations, in the center of the nice part of the strip, providing easy access to the most popular resorts and casinos.  This was a good thing, because their casino is very dated and crowded and the entertainment options are limited.

The first thing we noticed upon arrival was the tight parking garage.  It was always difficult to find a space.  At check-in, we asked if a strip view room was available, and we were told we could have one if we could wait a few hours, as we checked in early.  It took two more times at the registration desk, but we did finally get our strip-view room.  The view of the fountains at Caesars and The Bellagio was spectacular.  The room itself was not.  The rooms were advertised as being recently renovated, but we obviously got the room they hadn't gotten to yet.  Our room had a blue and white color scheme reminiscent of an old beach condo and it was run down.  I peeked in other rooms when housekeeping was working on them, and those were decorated in an attractive tropical decor.

The grounds and pool were beautiful but crowded.  We spent very little time in their casino.  The hotel coffee shop provided a decent and reasonably priced breakfast.  We had dinner in the on-site Italian restaurant that was rather nice for the price, especially for the strip.  I got sick later that night, but that could have been from the heat.  (I'll never go to Vegas in July again.)

Because of the great location, I would consider staying at the Flamingo again, as long as I got a reasonable rate and could be assured of a remodeled room.  But until they improve the casino, I will be spending my gambling dollars elsewhere.
