FitNow, Inc - Lose It! App for iPod Touch/iPhone —

MartinHdez Reviewing LooseIt for iPhone

My weight has been increasing slowly, but steadily over the last 30 years.  It peaked around 195 Lbs on December 2007.  I finally decided to get serious about it early 2008.  I re-joined a Gym and started a routine on my own.  I probably lost 5 pounds in 5 months.  I was not happy with progress so I incorporated 3 times a week sessions with a personal trainer.   From July 2008 to January 2009 with the aid of the trainer, I lost about 20 Lbs.  I was much happier with those results, but I was stuck around 170 lbs for few weeks.  I decided then to use technology.

I got the LooseIt application for my iPhone.  I tried other applications in past and I even got the Wii Fit program and balance board to help with the weight lost, but my best results came from the LooseIt program.  With the aid of LooseIt I have lost 13 Lbs in the last two months.

LooseIt is a great simple program that allows me to keep track of all the calories I consume.  I am very diligent about it, and since I am not sharing my data with anybody else I do not see the point in cheating myself.  If I have a cup of coffee I log it on the program.  The program also allows me to log the calories I burn each day. It has a nice database of exercises with levels of intensity.  By inputting the calories consumed and burned in my iPhone which I carry all the time, I have real time data of my status.  for example I know that today, because I have a big lunch and I have not done any exercise I have only 250 calories left for dinner.  Now I can make a decision whether to stop at the gym to burn calories or have celery sticks for dinner.

It has nice simple graphs and charts.  I can see when my weight is going down and when it is either not moving or going up.  I can check the foods and exercise I had at those times to see what is working best for me.  Since it has a nice database of foods and nutrients I do have a nice log of what percentage of my calories are fat, vs protein, vs carbohydrates.

The food database is fairly comprehensive, but while is by no means fully comprehensive, it allows the ability to add custom foods and the capability to create recipes with either existing food or newly added custom foods.

Nice simple interface that takes full advantage of the iPhone capabilities.  Reports and input screens are nicely designed.  Application has not crashed ever, and is fairly light.  I have not seen any updates since February that I got it.

I recommend it without any reservation.
