FitFlops Review Summary

Fit Flops and fitflop. We've seen it both ways! Fit Flops have been all the rage in the UK and, when they hit the US, they immediately sold out. What are they? These "fit flop" sandals are actually powerful leg exercisers that work the thighs, calves, and glutes as you walk. Our reviewers say they really feel it after walking around in these stylish sandals. One reviewer called FitFlops "a lazy person's workout" because they work the muscles as you go about your daily routine, The problem is finding these amazingly popular shoes. They seem to be sold out at everywhere all the time! Be vigilant. You'll get your hands on a pair of these new age exercise sandals eventually. Interested in shoes that work the legs? Read our reviews of MBT MWalk shoes which utilize barefoot technology to work muscles in similar but different way.

Quick View: I don't know exactly how beneficial these FitFlops are but they are far less expensive than MBT shoes and seem to work the legs and even the butt muscles as I walk. For 40 bucks, I'm satisfied.

I have 2 pairs of these shoes, because they are comfortable.  They did initially take some getting used to because of the sole of the shoe though.  I haven't noticed any change in my thighs or butt, as they claim to firm those areas.  I guess for someone who doesn't want to work out, these might be... review »

I read about these here on Viewpoints, and thought I'd give them a try. I can only wear shoes with serious arch support, so I'm used to spending a lot on shoes and sandals, but these are a bit expensive for flipflops (about $60). I found them on Macy's in white and red. I'll be looking for black after Christmas. It did take an evening of wearing them to get used to them (honestly, I felt a little seasick that first night, and sore the next day) but now they feel fine. The best part for me is not the exercise aspect -- I can't tell if they're doing anything for me there -- but the arch comfort.... review »

You read it right.  These are called FitFlops, not Flip Flops.  I like getting new and leading edge shoes and these fit the bill so I ordered them, just got them and felt compelled to write a review.

The FlipFlop is a new type of sandle that is "engineered with a safety tapered varying density midsolde that creates a micro wobbleboard workout in every step".   From this description we can clearly establish that the company has invested more in their product design and nothing in their marketing department. So, in non technical and non marketing speak, the FitFlops are designed to make your...

I love the Fitflop shoes.

I'm no health specialist or dietician or hardcore dieter/exerciser, but the sales pitch for the shoes was hard to resist. So I plopped down the $50 for them as soon as they became available at my local Bath and Body Works and started walking.

First of all, I did notice that the gait while walking with them felt strange. It almost felt like how your legs feel when trying to walk or run through sand, only without the slowing of speed.

A couple weeks later I got a puppy and he decided to try to chew on them. The left shoe is a bit gnawed up and looks like it's ready to fall...

I saw Fit Flops in an ad from Bath & Body Works.  Not being an avid exerciser, but loving to walk, I decided to give them a try.  I wasn't thrilled with the $40ish I paid for them, but thought if they did what they said it might be worth it.  They are truly comfy as stated.  I have not noticed any difference, however, in the way my legs/feet feel after wearing them.  I can wear them for a long time and my feet don't bother me at all (even with arthritis)...  I'm not sorry I bought them, but not sure I would consider them the "miracle" that most advertisement claims them to be.

I have three pair of these fitflops, red, blue and black. That is all the colors they have out on the market so far or I would have more. They where backordered but well worth the wait and price (45.00 a pair, I do not normally pay that much for sandles). The ad said they would tone your legs and butt and help with balance. Well let me tell you I have weak ankles and was always twisting mine. Not since I started wearing these sandles. My legs also look better. I even where them around the house in the winter with toe socks. What more could you ask for all this done for you by just wearing the... review »

I called my friend Bobby in Birmingham about FitFlops.  He has all of them since his surgery in his leg,  His doctor told him they will strength the muscles & to tell his girlfriends that cellulite is history wearing them.

He is laughing that I told him to buy me every color.  My Christmas present!  He laughs cause he can visualize me walking in them in 3 feet of snow.  He gets them for $20 USD so I have him getting a sale too!  So far red, green, navy, black & yellow all teamed with white.  See photo he sent me.

I have been eyeballing these for a long while.  Finally my mom broke down and bought me a pair (got tired of hearing me say - gee I would love to buy a pair one day).  So she bought me a silver pair.  I was a bit worried, because I typically wear an 8 1/2 or 9 but read that I should downsize.  I went to an 8 and they were a bit tight.  I wore them around the house and within a few hours they were fit to my foot.  They are very comfy.  I can see me buying myself some more (or mom) real soon.  I live in Florida so these are a necessity all year round.  I hate the flat flip flops these fitflops... review »

These were a bit pricey for me but I am certainly glad I made this purchase. I would recommend them to anyone looking for comfort. My sister also purchased a pair, however she has short toes and they hurt her between her toes. I have bad feet and every flip flop I purchased prior no matter how lightweight and comfortable eventually hurt my feet. But not the fit flip and I did lots of walking in it. My feet felt fine. As far as it toning your legs I think this is just pure marketing and is overated. I don't think this would actually tone your legs. I purchased these from footsmart.com.  My sister... review »

This flip flop is  supposed to be a new type of sandal that is "engineered with a safety tapered varying density midsolde that creates a micro wobbleboard workout in every step". These flip flop sandals are supposed to be powerful leg exercisers that work the thighs and calves as you go about your normal walking. I disagree, and feel like this product was a new way to get Americans to spend more money on useless stuff so they can think they are exercising. I did buy a pair because I wanted to see if they actually work and I really like flip flops. The fitflops are comfortable but I don't think... review »

Very comfortable.  Sturdy and sporty design.  No disadvantages of regular flips flops.  No lower back, knee, or hip pain after walking 9 miles in one afternoon.  Worked out calves more than regular walking.  My core feels a slight difference too.  Not sure if my core would feel anything if I had only walked 1 mile, though.

They don't sit on your foot in the same place as regular flip flops- which take a little to get used to- but no big deal.  A bit of blistering on the top of my foot (that happens with all new flip flops though).

Some people say that they are a bit pricey but I disagree. ...

I was skeptical about these types of shoes but I bought tw pair of these fitflops and they help.  Now they are not intended to change your whole body just on their own, but after a bad accident that left me unable to walk on my own for over a year I had a lot of atrophy and muscle loss and once I achieved stability in my ankle again I started wearing these and you can feel the muscles from your feet to your hips working and for a person that used to be highly athletic and active that now can only walk short distances before pain becomes too much, these shoes allow me to work muscles I could otherwise... review »

I purchased these because I had heard they tighten your butt muscles and legs. I dont know for sure at this point (2-3 weeks after purchase,w earing every day) if they do that. But I will admit that they are the most comfortable sandals I have worn in a long time. At first I hated the leather seam in between the toes, as it rubbed and hurt, but now I dont mind it at all. It takes some breaking in period to get the hang of the shoes, but once you do, they will be comfortable.
As for the cost, well they are REALLY pricey for a pair of sandals. I am unsure at this point if I will purchase another...

I order these sandals with much doubt but I absolutely love these sandals.  I don't know if they really burn calories and work the legs as they claim but I do kinow that they are incredibly comfortable sandals which I wore all summer long.  I didn't experience the tired legs that some people talk about which makes me wonder if I was getting the benefit from them but who can argue about them being extremely comfortable and,l I think, attractive looking.
