FitFlops —

You read it right.  These are called FitFlops, not Flip Flops.  I like getting new and leading edge shoes and these fit the bill so I ordered them, just got them and felt compelled to write a review.

The FlipFlop is a new type of sandle that is "engineered with a safety tapered varying density midsolde that creates a micro wobbleboard workout in every step".   From this description we can clearly establish that the company has invested more in their product design and nothing in their marketing department. ">)

So, in non technical and non marketing speak, the FitFlops are designed to make your legs work harder and therefore tone them more.  Unlike traditional footwear, these shoes actually ever so slightly destabilizes the foot slightly to create more continuous tension  in the leg muscles.  The packaging says that the midsole extends the amount of time that the slow twitch muscles are engaged during each step by 10-12%.  Slow twitch muscle fibers produce energy by converting fats into energy aerobically. (or at least that is what they claim on their packaging)

The FitFlops are the brainchild of Dr David Cook, a Senior Lecturer of Biomechanics at The Academy of Sport Physical Activity and Well Being at London South Bank University.

I will have to say I don't really know how legitimate the school or the professor is, but they certainly talk a good game.  The web site looks reputable and now that I am in posession of the FitFlops, I have to say I like them so far.  The look cool, feel ok and time will tell if they improve muscle tone.

I like mine and I think they work some. They're huge in the UK and now I can't find them here until mid to end of July. I was going to get my sister a pair. I am not sure if it is all hype but I do feel it in my legs and butt after a day or walking. I'll take whatever I can get! lol.

Wear shoes and tone muscles-- my kind of workout program!
