These Motown Moves didn't move me. They annoyed me!
3 star rating

an at home exerciser, the owner of 100's of at home workouts, a weekend warrior, health conscious, in need of variety in workouts, very concerned with staying fit
Pros

easy to do, music is good if you can hear it, mostly low impact, good extra workout included

Cons
boring, not enough dancing, she sings BADLY, more just aerobics than dance, music way too low, just not FUN

Quick View: Tamilee Webb is an excellent fitness instructor but she should stay away from dance. This workout is boring and missing the fun element that is so important. The music is decent but barely audible.

About Fit to the Hits with Tamilee: Motown Moves

I love to dance for fitness and love all kinds of music. I bought this dance DVD because it has tunes I actually know on it like Heard it Through the Grapevine, Upside Down, and Sugar Pie (Honey Bunch). I knew Tamilee was featured on the "Buns of Steel" DVD and the  "I Want That Body" series so I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I was wrong thinking I couldn't go wrong because I went wrong!

This DVD starts with Tamilee wearing an embarrassing neon orange faux fur one shouldered top and shiny, latex-like orange pants. She has others working out behind her who don't look neon and furry. Tamilee is personable enough and the warm up is fine. Once the workout starts though, the music is very, very low. And she sings. A lot and badly. The steps are not dancy. They are basic aerobic moves that do get the heart rate up but not much. At least not for me. The steps don't go at all with the music as she cha chas and mambos to Motown hits.

It's extremely repetitive although Tamilee does cue well and does make sure you do the steps right. But it's the same ole thing over and over throughout the 30 minute workout.

There is an option to workout to just the music track but it's so low that even turning the volume way up doesn't help.

The best part of this DVD is the extra workout called "I Want That Body Workout 2". This is a short workout using weights and Tamilee is MUCH more in her element in that workout. In fact, I only keep the DVD around for the bonus workout. The dance one is too boring, too slow paced, and just too annoying to do.

There are so many dance workouts to choose from that I don't think anyone should suffer through one that bores them or doesn't challenge them. This one bores me and doesn't challenge me so I don't do it anymore. If you are a beginner and a big fan of Tamilee, you may enjoy this workout. But, in all, it's pretty bland and average and lacks the fun factor that dance workouts usually have. If the music were louder and Tamilee didn't sing and prattle so much, maybe this would be passable but, as it stands, I can't stand to do it. The DVD sits around for times when I feel like doing the bonus strength workout.

My Viewpoint

This is not a BAD workout but it's boring and the music is barely audible. If you LOVE Tamilee, you may overlook her singing and constant chatter but I get annoyed by it. It's a personal preference. I don't like this workout but it isn't dangerous or badly produced (excpet for the music volume). It's a 2 star workout for me but, compared to all the workouts I have tried, it's average. 3 stars overall but I don't recommend it. Why pay for average when you can have a great time working out to other DVDs?

Working out is bad enough without having to listen to someone who can't sing!

Yah, I think I'll pass too!

Haha, yeah the neon fur and latex outfit should have tipped me off as to how bad this one was.

Great points here. Glad to skip it.

Neon and furry outfits? But isn't that your style? ;-)

I teach aerobics and yoga--I'll be SURE to stay away from the neon and furry outfits! Don't think I'll be buying this DVD for sure.

I agree 110% with you there Patty! Also a fine line between making sure a everyone knows the routine and insulting the intelligence of those that can catch on quickly...(did I say that right...lol)...;)

There's a fine balance between too much to learn and doing the same things over and over. And yeah...that outfit. Yikes!

She really shouldn't sing OR dance. She actually is a very good trainer when it comes to strength and stuff but not dancing. Ack.

repetitive and boring makes people want to stop....exercise needs to be fresh and keep you interested...and that outfit needs to be burned...lol ;)

Yikes to Tamilee singing! That's just too funny.
