When we first registered for this swing, we liked it because the swing would go in both directions, but we had no idea how important a feature that would be.
I didn't know this, but some babies like to go side to side and some babies like to go back and forth. My son only wanted to go side to side. Most baby swings only go back and forth, he hated those when he was a baby, as he got older, he was ok with back and forth, but not at first. The second night home from the hospital, our son would not go to sleep. There seemed to be nothing that we could do. I knew that he liked being in the swing, so that's where he slept that night. I put him in it less and less during the day so that he'd learn to sleep without the rocking, but he LOVED that swing.
As he got bigger, it really started to eat through the batteries because it took more effort to swing my growing boy. We later learned that when the battery started to go, the first part that started acting up was the mobile. It would stop turning for a time and/or start up again with no lights, or just the lights would go...then we knew that it was time for new D cells.
All in all, it's a good swing. My son has outgrown it, so we've put it away for a future sibling to enjoy just as much.
