My husband and I bought an iXL for our daughter when she was only 2. It has ebooks, coloring, games, and more. She has dropped it more times than I can count. It has lasted through the years and now her little brother is using it. This is extremely durable. I cannot believe any electronic device out there can stand up to what this has, last as long as it has and still work great. There are also many games to choose from. The battery power is surprisingly long as well. We also have a Leap Pad in our home that burns through batteries much much faster than the iXL.

Our kids love this game. Its easy for them to run themselves and is a lifesaver while traveling. We use rechargeable batteries with it. Lasts a lot longer. It was very easy to download games on also. It plugs right into the computer for downloads and to personalize it.

My daughter received this as a gift for her second birthday. She continuously uses it time and time again. At first I thought it would be a little advanced for her, since the ages are 3+, but, at 2, she still finds new ways to play with it. I like that the pen is attached, so she doesn't lose it. The only drawback is we go through a ton of batteries. I wish it can be charged electronically, but not possible. Great toy at a great price.

For Christmas this year we decided to get the Fischer Price iXL 6 in 1 Learning System for our daughter who is three.  Like most three year olds she opened the box looked at it and went straight to the doll she received instead.  Later in the evening we got the system out and showed her how to use it, since then she LOVES it.  The software was easy to install on our MAC computer as well as transfer music and photos.  We still need to get additional games, but wanted to wait to see if she liked the system first.  Today, I noticed she was quiet and I found her in her bedroom laying in her bed playing the game mode.  She also enjoys the coloring mode.  The system itself is a little bulkier than I had thought it would have been.  It is easy for her to navigate.  The system is wonderful for a three years and above.  I would recommend this unit to anyone with a child who loves to learn.  We have the pink version.

My daughter received this as a gift from her grandfather for her 2nd birthday and absolutely loves it! Before she got this she was always stealing my phone for games and music, now that she has this my iPhone is a thing of the past. She's learning her numbers, trying to "write" and loves to listen to her music. Although the age range is a bit older than her she seems to handle it quite well. It's very child friendly and even my husband likes to play with it! My only complaint is that it drains the batteries rather fast.

For Christmas last year I researched all of the "learning systems" that were out there for my 3 year old son. The ixl seemed to be the most relevant learning system to fit my child. I bought him a couple of games to go with it, and with the other things that are included on this system, it was a wonderful choice! I ended up having to go back and buy a second one for my one year old because they were constantly fighting over the one. They will both sit for hours on end and play games, listen and dance to music, listen to the stories, color on the pictures I have uploaded for them - and much more! My one year old has thrown his quite often (He's one...) and there have been no defects caused by this. On complaint I had with this system is that you have to have get on the computer and download the games, and then upload them to the system - which is slightly time consuming, and if you are doing this on Christmas morning and have an anxious child waiting, it makes it seem like that much more time. My suggestion would be to set up all games you have purchased BEFORE giving the system to the child. Also, you will need an SD card if you plan on downloading music to the system. I had one game and 2 CDs downloaded originally and all memory was maxed out. With the memory card, and the games all set up, we are all happy now :o) Great for car rides and restaurants, etc!

Love this learning game!!! My kids love this too. We got it for our son at Christmas, he is almost 4. He takes to bed with him. It goes off by itself which is nice. The only downfall is that it uses massive batteries!!! Why don't these come with a plug in charger like a cell phone???? someday huh? Anyways. Excellent gift too, but buy at least a 20 pack of batteries to go with it. We need to buy a charger and batteries. That would help on cost. ?

My 2 1/2 year old got this for Christmas and he LOVES it!! It plays games, music, has photos, coloring pages, stories and helps them with their letters and numbers. He could sit for hours and play it. We usually keep it in the car and he plays with it in his car seat. We got 2 different software titles, Toy Story and Handy Manny. He likes both of them better than the software it comes with, but he would have been happy with just the included software. There are no cartridges for the game, you load it on your computer, and then transfer it to the game. It is very quick and easy. I love that there is nothing else for him to have or lose with the game. He just needs the unit. You can buy a memory stick for additional memory, We haven't had to yet, but I am planning on getting one so that he can have more music for a long plane ride we have coming up. We did buy headphones for him to use, so it's a perfect quiet toy for him. There is an attached stylus that they use for coloring, writing, and navigating the system. He picked it up really quickly. I like that there is a lot more educational merit with this system than a lot of other systems out there. It is a new toy and there aren't a lot of software titles out, but we are looking forward to getting more when they do come out.

My 3 year old daughter got the ixl with 3 games for Christmas.  Once the parent has set up the ixl, it is a great system.  We use ours mostly for car trips and doctor visits - times when we need to keep her occupied.  The set up was a PAIN.  I have an Apple laptop so I had to get online and download the games from there.  Purchasing the games pretty much just bought us the codes to use online.  Putting games on my computer, then on to her system seems a convoluted way of doing things.  I can see that at least the games don't get lost that way.  I also don't like that we can only put 2 games on the ixl without a memory card.  The games are expensive, but there is plenty to keep my child's interest.  If she were 6 or 7 they would probably be too simplistic and get boring in a hurry.  We did purchase some headphones to go with it.  I really like that there is place to use them. The system is also very sturdy.  She has dropped it from a shopping cart a few times and there has been no damage.  All in all I say this is a great system for young kids and a good system for the adults doing the set up.

The Fisher Price IXL is a wonderful learning toy. It is a 6-in-1 learning toy.  It has 6 different applications which are: an ebook reader, a game player, an MP3 player, a photo viewer, and a notepad for drawing. So there's lots to do with this toy. There is an attached stylus that is used to make selections and for drawing on the notepad.  The attached stylus is great because you won't have to worry about losing it.  It is also very sturdy. Although the IXL comes with some software pre-installed, you would probably want to buy more software, because your child would most likely become bored with just using the demo.  The software comes in the form of a CD-Rom and has to be uploaded to the device using the enclosed USB cable.  I like the fact that the software is uploaded, because for me it means no cartridges that can get lost or damaged.  The game software is based on popular children's characters that your child would be familiar with, such as Spongobob Squarepants and Disney Princess.  All of the software includes components for all 6 of the IXL components. I purchased the IXL for my 4 year old son and he absolutely loves it.  Although he has only had it for a few weeks, I can see that he has already learned so much from playing with it.  I would highly recommend this toy.
