We got this for our 2+ year old daughter as an after Christmas gift (I guess it was considered to be one of the "hot items" this year). We found it at our local Target on clearance for a fraction of the price (it's regularly $60 and we got it for about $30) - and we couldn't WAIT for our little one to try it out. Setting it up was EXTREMELY easy - it comes with it's own video/audio cords and the instructions are VERY self-explanatory. When we plugged it in, we thought something was wrong with it. The sounds were VERY muffled (the music that you sign to) and it was hard to make out what song it was actually playing. When she went to sing into the microphone - the same thing happened. It wasn't like we were getting any kind of feedback - it was just POOR sound quality. I am really not looking for"BOSE" sound - or anything like that - I just expected to be able to hear her singing along with the song.
On the plus side of things, our little girl loves it anyway. She gets a kick out of seeing herself on TV (the video quality is actually pretty good!) AND she sings her own songs. There's another feature where you can plug in your MP3 player (although you have to buy your own cord to connect up to the Star Station) - but we have yet to try that. Once we get the cord, I will edit this post to include information on THAT sound quality :)
