The Fisher Price Star Station was one of those "must have" toys that my children received for Christmas last year.  After the initial excitement wore off, it pretty much gathered dust for a few months before coming out of hiding occasionally.

My kids get excited when we hook it up for them, but after about ten minutes, they are bored with it and back it goes to gather dust again.  The music cartridge that was included only contains four songs, which get old REALLY quick, especially if you despise one of the songs!  I never bothered to buy other cartridges for the Fisher Price Star Station since my kids prefer to keep the music volume down (thank goodness!) and prefer to watch themselves sing and dance on television.

One cool feature of the Fisher Price Star Station is that there are five special effect lenses.  My kids enjoying changing it from a clear screen of themselves to the kaleidoscope vision, which is just like looking inside of a real kaleidoscope.  They can also change the lense to double vision, color warp, or one showing a star around their face.  The special effect lenses can be changed easily via the microphone or manually on the base unit.  Note:  the camera has a short range so if you're children like to dance around the room, they will be out of the viewing area and no longer see themselves on the television.

If you buy this toy, you'd better stock up on batteries.  Not only does the base unit require six "C" batteries, but the microphone uses three "AAA" batteries.

Even when the Fisher Price Star Station is put away and collecting dust, my children enjoy playing with the microphone.  I guess I could have saved some money and bought a play microphone instead of the Star Station, but it's still something that my kids enjoy using on occasion.

I would recommend this only to true music-loving children who will spend more than 10 minutes watching themselves sing on television.  Otherwise, save your money and buy a play microphone.
