I don't know why this monitor has received such mediocre reviews on this site.  I have been using mine for 10 months now and haven't had any problems with it yet.

The Fisher Price Sounds and Lights Monitor comes with two receivers and one base for the baby's room.  I put one receiver in my bedroom and...

Anyone who has infants and young toddlers likely has a baby monitor, both for reasons of safety and for the peace of mind a baby monitor brings. Monitors range widely in terms of price and capabilities and one of the more budget- priced devices available is the Fisher Price Sounds ‘N Lights Monitor...

We purchased this monitor for our first child.  It had everything I thought I wanted.  Two channels to switch between, it lit up so I could turn it down and watch TV without the sound, and it had a night light.  The only thing I still like about it is the night light.

Every little thing is picked up on this baby monitor.  This should be a good thing for a concerned parent.  However, every little thing includes our neighbor's phone calls, radio stations and extra sounds from other rooms.  The great thing is that the radio stations come and go, so you can be woke up at 4 am to either Rush...

I bought this monitor while pregnant with my third child, because I had always trusted Fisher Price products.  The first couple of months all went well, and everything worked outstandingly. They were fairly clear, and worked pretty well.

A couple of negatives: you can hear AM radio stations very low, but clearly! There are only 2 channels, and if your neighbors have one, you hear their conversations, vice-versa. Keep these AWAY from other electronic products (alarm clock, cell phone charging, tv's...) or you will get a tremendous amount of feedback.

About 5 months into use, the receivers antenna...

I recieved this Fisher Price sounds and lights monitor for a present for my baby. Using it the first time i thought it was great. it has a night light four channels a handset that you can clip on your pants  or belt you can go a great deal away from the base without it losing signal and it doesnt get to much static. i also like how when there is a noise in the room the lights on the monitor move to show how much sound it actually was. this is great just in case you dont have the monitor up to high you can still see if there is activity going on. this monitor doesnt make me worried about leaving...

The Lights and Sounds monitor is the only monitor I've purchased and can't complain about it.  It's put up with a lot from my son and myself.  I've had to replace it once, after I left it in the bathroom for a couple of days and the steam from all of the showers ruined it.

It reaches very far, which helps for when I have to go out at night to clean my car, take out garbage, talk on the phone, etc.

The only con is having to replace the batteries.  It comes with a cord so you could plug it into the wall, but I travel around the house with the monitor so I'm always going through batteries. ...

This is the most horrid monitor I have ever come across. Not only did it break within 1 week, before that, all it did was make static noise. I called the fisher price hotline, and they were extremely nice, wanting to replace anything they could. Long story short, they ended up sending out about 6 different parts, 6 different times. This process took about 2 months. After all this, the monitor still made static noise, and some of the parts were actually broken in the boxes when they arrived. I finally just sent everything back to them, and they sent me a gift certificate for a replacement. We bought... review »

I purchased this monitor while I was still pregnant. We had a very tight budget in which we could use towards baby stuff and I thought we would need a monitor. It was very easy to set up and the price tag was perfect but I hate it. I wish I had saved the packaging because if I had, I would have been able to return it and put the $25 towards a different, better quality monitor. The microphone is great. So good in fact that I can hear when the cats walk past his closed door but I can't sleep over all the static. After using it only twice it has now just because a night light for us. We live in a... review »

After having our second child, and in a much bigger house this time around, we decided we needed to invest in a baby monitor.  I bought this one, because the price was right, but once I brought it home, I realized why it was so cheap.

All we could ever get on it was static, that or the neighbor's (they have a baby monitor), or the radio.  I tried both channels, I tried putting the monitor and receiver in different areas of the house, nothing worked.  I finally packed up back up and returned them--they were not worth the hassle.  It has been much easier to not have a baby monitor, then to...

The Fisher Price Light and Sounds monitor works great.  It was easy to set up - you just need 4 aa batteries and you are set.  It comes with a base for the baby's room that has a built in night light that is great.  It also comes with two receivers.  They are ac adaptable or battery operated.  Either way the sound is good.  The lights are interesting, but you have to be awake to see them.   A down side to the monitor is the amount of light the receivers put off when in use in your bedroom at night.  My husband complains about how bright the lights are.  They are a little annoying. ... review »

This is great if you live in an apartment or a small house.  It's clear and i love the lights, so if you think you heard something, the lights will reassure you.  I lived in a moderate sized 3 bedroom one bath and when I would go out to our quater acre yard and the baby in the room it would get distorted.  I like the fact that the reciever plugged in and took batteries.  The choice was mine.  It lasted a while, and held up to a lot of abuse.  It did turn yellow, and NO ONNE smoked in my house the plastic just gor brittle over time and discolored.  Overall I am very happy for the price I... review »

My husband and I are new parents and we were given an old monitor to use for our newborn.  We learned quickly that some pick up other noises (such as nearby phone lines) and also have a lot of feedback noise.  This got on our nerves as it kept us up more than the sound of our crying baby.  We went looking for another monitor asap.  When we found the lights and sounds one I was interested and decided it HAD to be better than what we were using.  Sure enough, we used it the first night and were amazed at it's clarity and that soothing light made it nice for the baby as well.  We couldn't be... review »

I needed a new monitor for baby #5, and decided on this one. I am very pleased with it, and get no interference from anything.  It is perfectly clear in reception. Also, my model has a vibration setting so that you can have the volume down but still know when baby gets to crying.  Also, you can take it outside with you when doing yard work or something, and it works then as well.  I also like that you can have the monitors plugged in, or you can have them just run on batteries. It is a nice compact monitor system and it works well. I also love that it has 2 receivers so I can leave one with... review »

When I first sarted using this monitor, I lived in a house.  The monitor worked great without any interfearance.  It picked up every little sound that my son would make.  We have since relocated to an apartment and it still picks up my sons movements pretty good, but it also has some light static interfearance.  It is not enough to keep me awake at night, but it is quite noticeable at higher volumes.  I even had to use it without the power adapter for the monitor for a couple weeks after the move (we lost the adapter).  Batteries lasted for 1 week, using it for 10-11 hours every night!!!

We got this monitor for our new baby, and it's amazing the things you can hear on it.  I like the fact that we can plug it in next to our bed, and we can hear everything.  If he moves his leg, we can hear the fabric ruffle.  Any little cough or noise, even the dog walking in his room, we can hear.  We turn it down pretty low, but we can still hear everything.  I like being able to clip it to my pants if I need to do something outside, and it's range is far enough for me to go to the end of the driveway and still hear him.  Occasionally, we do hear static, but when repositioned, it goes away.... review »
