I own the Fisher Price Monitor. I received it as a baby shower gift. It has a built night light for those little ones that don't like the dark. I have one monitor outside in the back yard and one in my kitchen. The way it work is that it will pick up all sound around your child but, as soon as your child starts to Mon or cry it will block all other noise around out. As a first time mom I would say it is a must have monitor.
