I purchased the Rainforest Take a Long swing from Walmart for my son when he was about a month. I have a large family that all live nearby and thought it would be great to have a way to contain and sooth my son while we were away from home. We visit often and many of my relatives have animals (cats or dogs) that I didn't want to have free access to my son, like if he were on the couch or on the floor in his carseat. The swong was easily put together, only requiring a few minutes of my time. The music was soothing and a little fun....enough to keep a baby's attention. My problems with the swing were as follows:
First of all the swing settings....there were three. The two slowest were too slow and the fastest was entirely too fast for an infant.
My other issues was that once my son was 4 months old could move his head forward on his own the velocity of him doing so caused him on one occasion to become stuck, hanging forward on the moving swing unable to pull his head back. The swing moved too far forward. I was there with him but it took me a few seconds to get to him and get him out of the swing. He was never put in it again,
I called Fisher Price and they were wonderful about the whole incident. I was proptly issues a return label and refund for the purchase price of the swing.
I have continued to use FP products but wish that the swing had been a little more sturdy, safe and infant friendly. I also would have liked to have seen a warning on the product that indicated that there was a danger for children who could lift thier heads up.
