The Fisher-Price Infant to Toddler Rocker is one of those rare products that will make your life easier for years and years to come. We received one as a gift when our first child was born, just over six years ago. And it is still in steady use today.
When baby is brand new, the rocker can be leaned all the way back and the support stand put down so that it acts as a sort of bassinet. The removable toy bar can hold small toys for baby to look at and eventually reach for. And the vibrating mechanism can calm a fussy baby. As baby grows, you can lower the support stand and make it into more of a seat or rocker. And the back can be lowered so infants who cannot yet sit up can lie back in the rocker, then raised when baby wants to reach out and play more actively with the toys. When baby gets old enough to actually climb in and out of the seat, remove the toy bar (and hide it, or they'll carry it around and eventually jab someone in the eye) and they can use it as a chair.
I have used this with more kids than I can count, ranging in age from brand-new babies sleeping away in the bassinet, up to 3-year-olds curling up in it to read. It is surprisingly affordable, especially for such a useful item. If you're looking for one baby item to use for years and years, this is an excellent choice!
