I recently got a great deal on Craigslist, which included the purchase of the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra.  This toy is designed for use by children ages 12 months - 3 years, so with a 3 year old and 20 month old in the house I thought it would be a great addition for both girls to enjoy.

Features of the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra:

  • Enhances motor skills and plays five songs
  • Child bounces and turns 360 degrees, while fun sounds reward movement and strengthen auditory skills
  • Orange, easy-grip handlebars for tight hold
  • To prevent falls, Zebra locks until child is sitting properly in seat
  • Ball in center spins with lights, plays music
  • 3 AAA batteries are required (included)

    Price:  $49.99

My Viewpoint:  I was disappointed when I first brought the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra  home.  It sat in the corner and no one was playing on it. I soon discovered this was because two other toys came home and in the excitement the children did not fully understand what this toy does.  But once one of the girls sat on it, got it to bounce and spin and play music they were thrilled with their activity.  The sit and ride on it for long periods of time.  It is fun filled durable entertainment.  They really don't play with the ball spinner in the middle, but are thrilled with the light inside it that comes on when the music plays.  They grab hold of the handles and hop right on like they are real live cowgirls.  Occasionally there are some slips and slides off the seat, and I am having to teach them that no trick riding is permitted as the attempt to see if it will spin and bounce when they stand on the Zebra.  The black and white and colorful primary colors would appeal very much to the younger crowd as well as the two small toys on handle bars and the spinning ball in the center.  The music is a little too loud for comfort for any long period of time, and sometimes I do have to distract them so that I can get a little piece and quiet.  The bouncing and spinning is great for building strong leg muscles and teaching balance.  Overall the children really enjoy almost sharing this toy (see pictures) but like it much better when they can play with it alone, which can't be done. As soon as one gets on, the other one wants it.  Now it is prominent in our family room, and if i move it, they move it back to the center so they can play and play. The base takes up a great deal of floor space and after they spin and bounce for awhile they do lose interest, but that's ok, after some time with the music I am glad to have them move onto something besides the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra.  I do think that it is a bit expensive and would not have bought it except I got it used for $15.00. It has really held up between the first family and this one.
