Fisher Price Baby Papasan Cradle Swing —

As a first-time parent, I bought a lot of things my daughter didn't really need, but the Fisher Price Baby Papasan Cradle Swing was not one of them.

My daughter is now three.  I miss the compact and portable baby stage, but most of all I miss the peace and quiet I received whenever I'd put her in this swing.  It was magic.  She'd take long naps in it or just hang out and contendely swing from side to side.

The swing seat itself adjusts so that baby can sit up or recline and also turns 90 degrees to swing baby back and forth instead of from side to side.  The seat cover comes off rather easily for wasing (and trust me, you WILL need to wash it) and a three-point harness will ensure your child does not slip out onto the floor.

The only two negatives about this product are its power source and size.  Now I understand from visiting the Fisher Price website that they now make several papasan swings, some of which can be powered with batteries OR through a plug-in outlet.  We bought the original Nature's Touch papasan swing that ran on batteries only and boy, did we go through the batteries.  I believe it took 4 D-size bateries which we wound up buying frequently from our local dollar store.

The footprint of this swing is large, so if you have a small living room be prepared for the swing to take up half of it.  The upside of such a large footprint is that the swing is very stable so there's no fear of it tipping over.  It also does not fold up easily for storage.

While the retail price might deter some making the purchase, these swings have been around long enough that you might be able to find a used one in good condition.

But honestly, the swing was worth the full price we paid for it.
