Sky High Rates but Good For Credit Repair

3

My husband and I were advised to apply for this credit cart when we were in the market to buy a home. We were told that it would bump our credit up about 20 points. The card is basically a pre-paid card. You apply, they put $300 on it and you pay that money back. Their interest rate is horrible though...like 20+% and there is a $75 annual fee that comes out of that initial $300 dollars. The card worked exactly like it was promised and it DID boost our credit the promised 20 points. I would recommend this to a person in a similar situation but be sure you have the funds to pay it off in a timely manner. They say that you can be refund the prorated part of the $75 annual fee but we never saw that. Bottom line, use with discretion and caution and make sure you cancel it as soon as you have paid off the balance. Canceling was a breeze and we took great satisfaction in sitting in our brand new house and cutting the card in half. Customer Service Easy to call and cancel. Available Rates Whoa Nelly!

Terrible card

1

I know this credit card is used to try to establish or rebuild your credit, however this card is terrible. They give you an initial credit limit of $250.00, but charge you fees so the available credit is only $79.00. I don't think it is right to go into a credit card owing that amount of money. I got this card, and could not pay the entire amount, was only able to pay the minimum and it actually hurt my credit. The balance did not move much since the interest rate was so high, and it looked like I had more than 50 percent owed at all times. The customer service was terrible, they pretty much tell you that the interest rate will never go down, and that is all they can offer. This is not the right card to use when trying to reestablish your credit. Customer Service I called customer service inquiring about the high interest rates and fees that were associated with the card. They were unwilling to help, or even explain why they charge what they do.

Keep Long Enough to rebuild credit!

This card is really only good for one thing. Rebuilding your credit, or those that are just starting out with credit. I used this care when I was like 18, just starting out, a hourly job and no credit. It served its purpose back then and allowed me to build myself a nice credit score (which I have kept intact). It was probably due to this card that I learned the value of credit, and it remained important from that point on. Customer Service Customer service people are very nice and attentive to customers. They are trained very well and always seem to go the extra mile for the customers. Available Rates This is the part that I have always taken issue with. They charge a fee to start the card, a fee to end the card and everything in between. They will give you a $250 credit limit and by the time they finish with fees and rates you end of with $70 worth of credit. The rest is fees you have to pay in order to get back to your original credit limit, minus the monthly $4.95 fee for maintenance. Really kind of ridiculous to charge that for a credit care, but some folks need that stepping stone!

Establish Credit with First Premier Bank!

4

First Premier Bank is great for what it is, which is a credit card to help you establish or re-establish a positive credit rating. Yes, it has a high rate and high fees, but it can still help you save money over the long haul. I had to file for bankruptcy after my divorce. I couldn't get credit with any traditional lenders or credit card companies and that's why I applied for a First Premier Bank credit card. Over half of my low initial credit line was used before I even received my card, but the fees were disclosed and I understood the situation. I paid it off and occasionally used my card and paid it off every month. After about two years I improved my credit score and qualified for a lower interest car loan. In the long run, First Premier saved me over two thousand dollars of interest that I would have paid on the higher interest rate car loan. As long as you use the card as a way to re-establish your credit it has a lot of benefits. Customer Service I believe their customer service is outsourced to another country. Every time I called I had a very difficult time understanding the persons accent. I often didn't get my concerns resolved. Available Rates Interest rates are extremely high. There were no low introductory rates or special promotions. Expect to have an interest rate at the maximum allowed by law.

GOOD INVESTMENT

Good for people who are trying to rebuild their credit!! Allows you to make a small down payment and get and immediate allowance so that you can charge and payoff and get increases due to good paying habits. Easy monthly payments not a high interest rate and the sooner you pay off initial charges the more they work with you! I am impressed and this has allowed me to open other charge accounts and get life's necessities on a budget so I am thankful for this company. They gave me a chance when no one else would. Customer Service Customer service is superior allows me to call in and pay my monthly bill per animated system which I've never had a problem with I might add and it allows me to pick the day I want the money taken out for payment. Very thorough system and very nicely voiced. Available Rates Rates to me are not that high and fits my budget and when I say budget it is tight. This card allows me to use if for emergencies and well as everyday purchases at almost every store I shop at on a regular basis. Where else can you go and get a credit card without all the high interest fees like the well known banks charge? While using it and rebuilding your credit as they due report to all the credit bureaus I love it and recommend to anyone on any level. It has gotten me back on track and I am reaping the benefits due to this company. I'm looking at getting the Platinum Card now too so for extra security. It was my pleasure to review a company that has helped turn my life around. Thank you

The absolute worst credit card a person could have.

1

High interest rates and poor customer service. The only good thing about this credit card is the ease of use of their online banking. The only reason anyone would have a card like this is because since they have sky high interest rates, they'll approve anyone. There are no rewards and their customer service is nothing short of annoying. Customer Service It makes no sense. They start calling about a payment arrangement weeks before your payment due date. They call 3 times per day, everyday. Weekends included. You tell them you'll make a payment online and they still call. You make a payment online, they still call. This service is filled with incompetence. Available Rates The only rate they have is OUTRAGEOUS. It's companies like this that cause so many americans to have to file bankruptcy. No rewards program or incentive to keep the card other than having bad credit and not being able to get a better card.

....only if you have to start somewhere

2

Fees everywhere, even a fee to sign up so you can view your account online. Then a payment fee when you make a payment. But if you have no credit you have to start somewhere. But after you establish credit, I would cancel this card right away. Also, if your payment is due on lets say the 25th, you can't make the payment that day, you need to make it the day prior or you get charged a late fee. Customer Service after spending five minutes navigation through menus, you might still have to wait a while to speak to somebody who will probably then tell you to call another number. They tell you you are wrong even when you prove you are right. Available Rates some things they can't help, but the rates they have, plus the fees they charge are horrible. Fee for making a same day payment, fee for paying online, fee for paying over the phone. I am probably being charged a fee for typing this. Avoid this card if you can. If you have to establish or build credit, this might be a shot though.

mastercard hard to get to work

1

This is a difficult prepaid card to get working. EVERYTIME I scan it at the grocery store it comes up denied. I have used it as a debit and used my pin number and that is denied. I have run it as a credit and that will not work either. You can only spend the amount that you have on the card, you can't go over. I called customer service about the problem and all they told me I needed to do was run it as a credit BUT THAT DOESN'T WORK. I have got it to work with online purchases however. That is the only way it has worked. I am disappointed by its lack of flexibility and embarrassed everytime I try it in the checkout line not only because it was denied but also because I held up the line by trying to get that card to work and then it didn't so I have to get out another card and go through the whole swipe transaction process again (which really isn't that long but embarrassing just the same).

I recently applied for, and surprisingly received, a First Premiere Mastercard. I think I may have used it for maybe $20 or so worth of purchases, and with all of the fees and interest, my bill now is over $400 dollars! Credit card companies should be PROHIBITED from doing such things, and if that meant being declined, which I should have been anyway, so be it!

First Premier Credit Card company a rip-off waiting to happen!

1

Ever applied for something on the internet and been so excited, just can't wait to receive it in the mail?  Have you ever finally received the item and felt totally jipped?  This perfectly describes my experience with First Premier Bank.  The credit card company tells you that you are receiving a card with a credit limit of $250.00.  However, when you receive the card you'll notice that you're available balance is only $79.00 because of all the bogus charges and fees that have already been billed to your account before you receive it.  On top of that, you have to pay $25.00 to activate the card, which really means that your card balance is that of $54.00. You apply for the card with intentions of relieving some of your debt, when in fact you're merely placing yourself further in a bind then when you started.  I would not recommend this card to anyone unless you're absolutely desperate for $30.00 and you have $25.00 to send in to "activate" your credit card.
