A few months ago our good old trusty carbon monoxide detector that we have had for over 10 years finally gave up on us. It was time to get a new one. I rushed out right away to purchase a new one and purchased the First Alert Carbon Monoxide Plug In Alarm with Battery Backup and Digital Display model number C0615. I remember showing my husband that i bought it and he said he would install it later that weekend, he didn't. In fact he put it off for a couple of weeks as he had been working a lot of hours. The reason was because he thought it was going to be hard to install and that he would have to do all these settings etc. When he finally did he started to crack up because the only thing he had to do was plug it in. If you don't want to plug it in it has a battery back up witch uses 2 AA batteries which come with the detector. It has an EZ access door do if you install it up on the ceiling you can just open it there as the battery door will be facing down so you can get to it easily. The back up battery also insures that if you have a power outage your detector will still be working. The alarm is meant to last for 7 years and after those 7 years are up it has a feature that tells you that it is time to replace it. The detector also comes with a 7 year limited warranty. This easy to install alarm should comfort you in the fact that you know you can depend on it even when you don't have electricity and it even lets you know when it is done and ready to replace. First Alert thoroughly tests all of their carbon monoxide detectors and the C0615 model meets all UL2034 standards.

Having a Carbon Monoxide Plug in Alarm withy battery back up is a must have in any household. Who wouldn't want to know if there is Carbon Monoxide in their home. It is very scary to know how many people do NOT have one, and how many lives could have been spared if they did have one. People should take every precaution to keeping their families protected and make sure that they know when harmful chemicals or inhalants are present in their home. This product is affordable and neccessary. It has a fast reaction rate, so there is no guesswork and hardly any failure rate. That way you are protected. It gives you enough time to get out of the house to prevent brain damage or death. We should all be ready, you never know what to expect. We should not leave anything to chance. The odds of having this problem is uncommon but you never know. I would rather be safe then sorry. That is why every household should have a fire alarm as well. But I will leave that for another review.

The First Alert carbon monoxide detector that plugs in is so easy to use and I love the fact that it has a battery backup in those cases when there could possibly be a power outage .  In that respect, it pulls " double duty" and leave you feeling safe and secure . If you heat your home with gas or have a gas stove or not water heater as I do , you REALLY NEED to have at least one carbon monixide detector on all levels of the house . I own two of this model and one that is attached to the ceiling by screws rather than being a plug - in type . Carbon monoxide is really scary and is silent so you cannot be too sure - these are well worth the price and something that every homeowner needs to feel secure - betetr safe than sorry . The First Alert brand is one I trust and I also own their smoke detectors  -the are not too costly and seem to be reliable  - test often to make sure it is working properly .

I originally purchased this alarm because we had moved into a townhouse with a gas fire-place.  I had looked for a relatively simple alarm to install, but still gave me the protection I wanted.  I found the First Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarm easy to install, and the directions were highly understandable.  There is a definite peace of mind factor here, and I think that anyone who has a natural gas run ANYTHING should seriously consider purchasing one.

So far no problems with this carbon monoxide detector.  I have had them for years, and recently replaced mine due to age.  I purchased a carbon monoxide detector and a carbon monoxide/gas detector.  I did have to have the gas detector replaced under warranty because it kept going off for no reason.  I love feeling safe in my home with children and not worrying if there is undetected carbon monoxide gases in our home.

This is a great item because you do not need batteries! There is nothing worse than forgetting to check the batteries on your carbon monoxide or fire alarm! So the great benefit of it is that you plug it in & only have to worry about the electricity going out but then you have the awesome feature of a battery back up! Can't beat that! Otherwise it still does the same exact thing. The only downfall of this type of item with plugging it in, is if you have small children they have very easy access to "testing" the item...the LOUD beep that it puts off to test if it is working or not. Of course the kids eventually learn to stop touching it but for the first few months of having it plugged in at children's eye level, they push the test button! If you do not have kids then no problem! Otherwise I would have given this item a five star. Five star if you do not have kids, four star if you do have kids (only because it's at children's eye level!)

First let me start by saying I would not trust any other brand besides First Alert with the safety and well being of my family.  I bought three of these (Laundry Room, Downstairs Hallway-near fireplace, and Upstairs Hallway).  I am an overprotective mother but when it comes to my family nothing is ever too much if it means they will be safer.  The detectors are very easy to install (got my husband to do this one instead of food shopping).  The digital screen is easy to read at a glance which gives me peace of mind that the batteries are still working.  With us using the fireplace already (really not loving NJ weather) it brings a peace of mind that no other product could ever give me.  After buying these for our home I decided to put them in our holiday gift baskets that we give every year to families we know.  I used to work with a rescue squad and volunteer and I can't tell you how many times I had to rush families to the Emergency Room from Carbon Monoxide poisoning/exposure.  That is definately something that is preventable and this is a GREAT tool to do so.
