Finding Nemo  —

Finding Nemo is one of the very best efforts from Pixar.  I cannot say it was the best as all Pixar animated films are a standard in animation and storytelling that even the original standard, Disney aspires to.  The film begins with a clownfish named Marlin, (played brilliantly by Albert Brooks) losng his wife and almost all their kids to a horrible attack from a barracuda.  Almost all because there is a sole surviving egg that while damaged in the attack, that is the one that Marlin names Nemo which was the name that his wife wanted to name all their children.  This within the first five minutes of the movie mind you.

What follows is a movie so clever and spectacular both in animation and story that it is very near perfection.  If you haven't seen it yet, go and get a hold of it.  I refuse to spoil the wonderful surprises that the movie holds in store for you.  Andrew Stanton and his crew of Pixar wizards clearly know how to engage the audience, and at the same time make you laugh and cry.  The animation is beautiful.  There are moments that you swear you are looking at real fish. You will be fooled at least once.  The movements and nuances that each frame has in this movie convince you that the filmmakers actually went out to the Great Barrier Reef and filmed on location.

The voice acting in the movie is excellent.  Ellen Degeneres is hysterically funny as Dory, a Blue Tang with a really bad short term memory loss, played up to extremely comic effect.  Geoffrey Rush is great as a pelican who helps Marlin on his quest to find Nemo.  Andrew Stanton as well does the voice of arguably one of the most popular characters in the movie, the sea turtle, Crush.

In short, buy this movie!  You will not be disappointed.
