Perhaps some of us have to prepare our own taxes or at least gather up all of the paperwork for someone else to do it. If you have discovered something that helped you, plese share.

I'll give my tip. My family must take quite a bit of medication for chronic health issues. I used to keep all of the receipts and painstakingly go through all those receipts for health expenses to record on the long form. My dad mentioned that I could contact the pharmacy and they will send a printout of the year's receipts for each person in the family. (Some pharmacies now have this online as well, and you may need to sign a release, so check for specifics with your pharmacy if you wish to utilize this service.)

Ok, my first tip might be something everyon knows....

I have a spot in my living room where I place all tax paperwork that comes in.  That way as soon as the mail comes in I have a place to stack it :)

My second tip may be something that is too late to do now but can help you next year...

Do all donations by check or credit card - whether it's church, or buying something from a kid's school, or a donation to an organization.  That way you have a record of all these donations even if you don't get a reciept (which you usually don't nowadays).  I know some people don't claim donations, but I do.

Thanks for the info, there are a number of people I know that are on daily medication, I will relay the info to them to check their pharmacies for a summary of their purchases.

#1 improvement in my taxes - TAX CUT SOFTWARE - NO OTHERS!!  Save ALL receipts, keep all information, spread out home improvements to get deductions, etc.  NEVER GO TO H & R BLOCK.  Do your own taxes with Tax Cut Software and you will never use anything or anyone else.  This software includes all the tips you will need.

Glad I could be of some help! Cancer medications are famous for being quite expensive.
