I love my ferret Spunky very much!  He is a de-scented, spayed male and I bought him about 1 1/2 years ago.  I did make sure I bought him a three tiered cage that was roomy, easy to clean and safe.  If you are going to get a ferret as a pet I suggest you get a cage with the bottom removable.  It is easier to clean if you can just lift the top off the cage.  Ferrets do require alot of time and attention though.  So if you don't like animals that require alot of time do not get one.  They work better in groups but if you have other animals that they can play with or if you spend alot of time with them you will find they do just fine and are very loving.  My ferret plays with my cats and because ferrets are somewhat catlike in behavior you can play with them like you would a cat.  They do have a tendency to do a "wardance" when they want to play that looks quite funny.  What they do is jump either sideways or backwards while they make little "chittering" noises and bare their teeth.  Of course because they can bite you should not leave them alone with small children even if yours is tame.  There are many websites out there regarding ferret with a lot of information so just go to a search engine to find out more.  I love my ferret, he truly is my little buddy!
