Fellowes Powershred®SB-97CS Shredder Review

I procrastinated way too long in the decision to buy a shredder for my home office.  Because I work with confidential client information everyday, I had to manually tear up the paper work when it was no longer needed.  I had looked at the reviews for some shredders in the past and was disappointed.

At year-end, I decided to take another look.  I read the reviews for the Fellowes SB 97C and was impressed with what people had to say.  I took a look around at prices and found that Office Depot had it for $250.  Amazon, however, had it listed for $159 with free shipping.  I took the bait and it was in my home office in 3 days.

This model has the Patented Safesense Technology  that stops the shredder immediately when your hands get too close to the opening.  It is touted as being ideal for heavy duty needs in the small/home office.  It shreds up to 17 sheets per pass into cross cut particles.  It accepts legal or letter size documents, credit cards, staples and paper clips.  A designated safety slot also shreds CD's.  It has an auto start and stop function.  It automatically shuts down when there is a paper jam, the door is ajar, or the wastebasket is full. 

I like the fact that it is on casters and can be easily moved from room to room when needed.  It holds 10 gallons and you can open the door and push the waste paper down and get quite a bit into one bag.  It has reverse action which easily clears any paper jams and the cutter is guaranteed for 7 years.

I love this machine.  It is an attractive (silver and black) 26" high and slim enough to fit next to your desk.  This is one of the best purchases I have ever made and I am very happy with it.   I just wish I had bought it before now.

Hubby knows where I keep my "to be shredded" stack and actually will shred the stuff for me, cause it is so easy to use.

I would recommend this product to anyone with a need to shred confidential information.  No more ripping up the credit card bills, tax returns, or other personal information.  Now, you can know that the information is not going anywhere.
