No CFC's, No HCFC's, Safe for the Ozone Layer

I don't care how well you clean your home your computer will get dirty on the inside. Dust can burn out a computer if it is not controlled. I used to just grab any can of compressed air that was on sale, until I read an article about the dangers around birds. We have 4 Cockatiels and it made me think about the harm I was doing to our sweet birds. So I did some research and found one that was safer as it contained No HCFC's (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons) and NO CFC's(Chlorofluorocarbons) either, it is also non flammable and won't make you high.

Fellowes Compressed Air Duster

This is not only safe for the Ozone layer but is also non flammable and won't harm our Cockatiels and that makes me happy. Each can comes with a 5 inch tube that inserts into the nozzle to get to those hard to reach areas in your computer. It also allows you to keep the can upright while using it. Otherwise you will get a very cold blast that can freeze skin.

I will blast the front of the computer once a week all around the USB ports, the Disc trays and the vents on the front and sides. Once a month I will take the side cover off and get the inside of my computer. I pay special attention to the vents and fan on the power supply as well as the auxiliary fan that mine has.

This is a sure fire way to make sure your computer is getting enough air flow by keeping the vents and fans clear of dust. I also have an updated graphics card that has its own fan so I make sure I get that clean as well.

Bottom Line

Don't be fooled that because you keep a clean house that your computer is safe from heat causing dust. For not much money you can be sure it is safe from heat buildup and save yourself a costly repair. Besides a cooler computer works better, heat robs it of some of its efficiency and can cause components to burn out from lack of cooling. Being how this is Non Flammable you can also use it on your television, dvd players, vhs player and sound system.

With other compressed air products I have used I would feel light headed during and for a while after I used them. Fellowes doesn't have that effect on me so it is a better way to do the job properly.

As an example of dust causing problems we had a heater that stopped working, once I got it apart I found it covered in dust all over the controller card. Once I blew it off the heater once again worked as it always had. This stuff is safe for the Ozone so you can also be Green as you clean your electronics!

Note: There are 2 part numbers for Fellowes Air 99790 is the Non-Flammable one.

I got tired of it and went to a laser mouse!

Now I just wish I could find something to "blast away" the nasty little gunk that forms a ring inside my mechanical mouse...

I have found it at Best Buy before and Walmart, if all else fails Amazon.com has it also. I just google it and www.shoplet.com has it right now 2 cans for $10.75. Part # 99790 is the non flammable one Ron

Thanks! This is good information. May I ask where you find this brand? I have not seen it on the office supply store shelves. Thanks, Karen
