The bra's not the best but solves the low back issue affordably.
4 star rating

a lingerie lover, liking a good fitting bra, fun loving, a believer in accentuating the positive, super body conscious, willing to try anything once
Pros

pockets for cookies (or money lol), versatile, affordable, low plunge front, clear straps, low back styling optional, several ways to wear it, underwire support, use low back band on other bras

Cons
clear straps don't stretch, cups are somewhat hard, may have belly bulge w/low back band, doesn't enhance the bust, not the best convertible bra out there, may not support larger busts

Fashion Forms 3 in 1 Convertible Bra —

Quick View: Fashion Forms makes two bras that call themselves three way bras. They're very easy to mix up. The Fashion Forms 3 in 1 Convertible Bra that I have actually converts four ways. It can be worn as a regular bra, a halter, a criss-cross, or a very low backed style with the straps in any of those ways on the shoulders. It cannot be worn strapless. The OTHER three way bra, called, conveniently, Fashion Forms 3 Way Bra does NOT do low back styling. Having said that, the 3 in 1 Convertible Bra does what it says but I don't really love the cups.

About Fashion Forms 3 in 1 Convertible Bra

I have a really good - and quite expensive - convertible bra that I love so why did I get this one? It was on sale and I wanted a nude color. My good one is black. This bra has clear straps and a clear middle part that holds the cups together. The bra has just one row of hooks and comes with a long stretchy back band. To wear it conventionally, you don't need the back band. Just do up the straps and go.

To wear the bra under back baring tops and dresses, fasten the same colored strap onto one side of the back of the bra and come around your rib cage (or waist) with the band then hook it to the other side of the bra. Depending on how low you want the bra to plunge, you will wrap the strap either up high or down lower on your upper abs or waist. It's very stretchy so it doesn't dig in but I can see where the band might product a bulge in the front. If you're wearing something super clingy, that could be an issue. It does stretch a lot though so it probably won't produce huge front roll.

The cups plunge in front and come with pockets for "cookies" if you want to put them in. Cookies are crescent shaped silicone or foam inserts that add lift and shape to the bust. I choose not to use cookies because they make my bust look unnatural.

The cups are lightly padded but only very lightly, more like heavily lined. They feel kind of hard to the touch and look a little stiff under real clingy tops. If they were softer, this bra would actually be a huge hit for me. But I really like soft, flexible cups and these just look and feel a bit hard. Maybe washing and allowing the bra to dry a couple of times will soften the cups. I don't know.

The bra is an underwire one and it doesn't slip around or move when I lift my arms or make any kind of crazy movements. It doesn't shift when I bend over and it pretty much stays in place no matter what I do. The back plunge feature is why I bought it because I have several tops with super low backs this season. This bra does dip low enough to be worn with all of the tops I tried so far. On one very tight top, though, the outline of the strap criss crossing in the back can be seen slightly. But even with the best convertible bra that's going to happen. The backless answer truly has not come yet. If you want NO straps in the back, you can try theĀ Maidenform Breakthrough Backless Bra
but don't try to move unless the top is super tight, holding it in place. You can try the NuBra Silicone Adhesive Bra (which is made by Fashion Forms as well) but don't try to move AT ALL. Even my gorgeous Le Mystere Dos Nu Convertible Bra has the belly bulge issue if I don't adjust it just right.

This bra comes in small and larger cup sizes but have no idea how the support is for bigger busts. I am average sized and it supports me well. It comes in black, dark nude, and light nude.

My Viewpoint

For $28.00, the Fashion Forms 3 in 1 Convertible Bra is a good buy. Although the clear straps don't stretch as much as fabric ones do, they are comfortable and great for when straps peek out of tops. You can't even see them. The stretch back band can actually be used with any bra you own so experiment with that! I have been using it to make a favorite conventional bra into a low backed one! Just remember that Fashion Forms has two three way bras (This is four way but whatever!), if you want the one that does the low back styling, you have to get the one named Fashion Forms 3 in 1 Convertible Bra. The other doesn't have any hooks and is a pull on style that allows halter, criss-cross and conventional bra styling. I give this bra 3.5 stars. Wait, I can't do that. So I guess I'll go with 4 stars based on price, fit, versatility, and the fact that you can use the low back strap with other bras.

The low back strap comes with the bra. You can attach it to any bra really because it is a separate strap. Just hook it to one end, cross it around your back to the front and hook it. The bra will not show in low backed tops. You don't need anything else to make it low back. It comes with everything you need.

I'm confused, is the low back strap included or did you buy a separate accessory for this purpose? I'm looking for a picture to give me an idea of what I would be in for, but I can't find one anywhere. Help! I need one for a wedding!

Thank you, Bob! I try to write do that women will get the info they need but men won't be turned off if they stumble on the reviews. Then again, I suppose not many men are turned off by women in bras but still. Intimate items are touchy subjects. No pun intended. lol.

LOL, me too! But then the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Or in this case, the lower they sag! :)

No matter its good points (hmmm, not really intended) or bad, I wish I had something to put in a bra that looks like this.

I, for one, would not be scared in the least.

You often have the most eye-catching reviews. I enjoy the way that you have no fear in your reviews. An unbelievable number of women must appreciate this... and probably more than a few men!

Haha! I was going to take pics of me wearing it for authenticity but that would scare people away and burn their eyes. ;)

They have silicone inserts that slip into the bra and make you a cup or two bigger and no one will know. They even feel real if you bump up against someone and warm to your body temp. But then again, why? We have what we have and we probably look just fine as is. I'm sure you do! I lost the actual bra which was just a silicone slab with adhesive in public. Came right out of my top and down to the floor like a raw chicken cutlet. My mother once was in a rush to get to work and went there with just her half slip and uniform top on (She was a waitress). She usually waited until the last second to put on her skirt. This time, she forgot completely. LOL LOL. My poor mom.

I don't know how much support it would give. It is underwire and does have nice support for me but I'm a small C.

In response to LisaCarey's comment from Jun 14, 2009 at 2:45PM:

LOL, I'm not alone! Kine looked like a raw chicken cutlet. I once had these silicone crescents that came in a bathing suit top and one plopped out and floated in the pool I was in. I did not claim it. Haha.

LisaCarey wrote on Jun 14, 2009 at 2:45PM

great review - and yes, I have lost my inserts in public before, I admit to it. THought I would die! but no one knew where they came from but me (at least I hope I was the only one loosing them!)

Love the detail in the way you review. I'm a 40D. Not sure if this bra will work for me tho based on what you're saying. Thanks for the great info!

When are they going to make a convertible bra that converts pancakes to muffins? Notice I didn't even ask for pound cake. Just muffins. Really, I'm content with recharging my AA batteries--that's what my friends say about my bras ;+)

I fell out laughing when I saw the comment on the last picture. Did you lose your bra or the inserts in public? My slip fell off in the sheriff's dept one day and I just kept walking. I wasn't about to turn around and fetch it.

A few more pictures would be nice ;)

What a wonderful review about a very technical complicated issue. What won't they think of next -- the clear straps are pure genius and it's too bad they had to sacrifice flexibility. I don't think I would have the patience for this bra though. Even when I was thin (relatively speaking) I had an issue with underwire bras but they might be makin them better now.
