Farmer's is a company that looks out for its customers. The rates and discounts are excellent and are more than competitive with the others in the industry.

Farmer's has taken care of me and my friends and family, and I would strongly recommend them to others.

Strengths:
Finacially Sound.

I do not have Farmers Insurance. This is my perspective as a person who has had to deal with Farmers Insurance.  When I was rear ended I had to contact Farmers Insurance (the other persons provider).  They rightfully put me in a rental since my car was not drivable and the lady I talked to was nice...

I use to have Farmers for over six years.  Every 6 months they would raise thier rates ($10 to over $20 per month) and charge you a monthly service charge.  I changed insurance companies who have tripled the coverage and saves me over $23 per month.

Farmers insurance offers the same amount of insurance for a higher price. The only reason I am with Farmer's is because my parents have been with this guy for over 30 years. If I could have the same convenience I have with my agent, I would definitely switch.

I first used Farmers when I bought my house.

I had been with GEICO for 13 years and ran into a major problem when they capriciously switched me from one GEICO company to another (who knew there was more than one??).  I got a check due to "changes in my policy".  I happened to call in for some information and THEN they told me "I" had cancelled my policy.  I was shocked.

Apparently, due to this "switch" they suddenly wanted a form filled out that stated I would not allow my roommate to drive my car due to his record.  They claimed to have mailed me the form and that I never returned it, so "I"...

After being with Farmers for many years and several milestones such as reaching the age of 18, then 21, graduating high school and college, getting married, and having a baby our rates continued to increase instead of decrease. with only one traffic ticket in more than 5 years I couldn't understand why. only one ticket, no accidents, no claims of any sort and they kept wanting more of our money. When I contacted our agent on several occasions about the increases i was told the equivalent of "oh, rates are going up everywhere, we just charge what we're told" They apparently have no interest in maintaining...

After having a terrible experience with State Farm, we switched to Farmers and have multiple policies, 4 cars, homeowners, and an umbrella policy.  Overall I'd give Farmers a very good rating on their coverage, but there are a couple of things I'm concerned about and do not know if it's typical of all insurance companies.  I'm not sure how credit ratings affect insurance rates, especially if payments are always on time and the insured has a clean driving record.  However, we had a crazy item on our credit report that Farmers used to raise our rates, and the problem was that there was no way... review »

Although I see multiple adds offering to lower my car insurance premium, I don't want to chnage insurance companies.  My agent has always been extremely helpful.  I have always been able to contact him when I need him. I especially like the discounts I am given.

I have been with farmers for over 20 years and plan on staying with them as long as I own a car and can keep my same agent.  Of course if my agent retires, I will give a new agent a  chance to be just as helpful as my current agent.

Great customer service keeps me renewing with Farmers.

As with all companies, Farmers has its good points and bad points.

I actually was a customer of Farmers, and then became an Agent with Farmers, so I have seen the penny from both sides.

As a customer, things always went smoothly, I never had a problem, except with the constant rate increases and the various "Miscellaneous Charges" that never could be explained or removed! My agent was great and was the reason I thought it would be a good idea to become one.

As an agent, I realized that the Farmers system is greatly flawed and their computers don't always synch up with the information that is input....

It was a total nightmare dealing with Farmers Insurance after a simple automobile accident, where we were rear-ended.  Farmers ignored my claim completely, and I had to get the Department of Insurance involved in order to resolve this.

After my car was eventually repaired, I decided I would never deal with Farmers again, and I cancelled my Farmers policies, both automobile and homeownenrs, and I purchased insurance through a different company.  I sent a letter to the Farmers agent advising her that I purchased insurance through a different company and told them to cancel my policies.  ...

I have been with Farmers since I was 19. I'm 28 now. I did have a gap of 2 weeks that i was with Geico. I definetly dont recommend the lizard insurance. Farmers Insurance has been good to me until i recently got in a wreck because a driver ran a red light in front of me. I slammed on my breaks to miss him, slid halfway through the intersection and my car came to a stop. I looked up and a white thing was coming straight at me and hit me from behind.  I couldn't do anything about it. And I had a little neck pain. Apparently the guy driving the white thing (a dodge minvan) was paying attention... review »

My husband and I each had Farmers Insurance auto policies before we married and decided to stay with Farmers because it was convenient to keep our policies and we could afford their rates. Over the years we have had all of our cars insured through Farmers, plus our homeowner's policy and eventually added a life insurance policy.

Our agent, T. Allen Drew, in Edmond, OK, has been very helpful any time we have had a question, concern, or claim. It is nice to have a friendly agent who knows us by name, not just our policy number, taking care of our insurance needs. He has even saved us money a...
