I do not have Farmers Insurance. This is my perspective as a person who has had to deal with Farmers Insurance.  When I was rear ended I had to contact Farmers Insurance (the other persons provider).  They rightfully put me in a rental since my car was not drivable and the lady I talked to was nice enough.  However, they failed to mention that they would not cover the insurance on my rental.  When I called the rental company they told me that Farmers said they would not cover my insurance.  WHAT?!  After being in an accident I would be crazy not to have insurance on a rental even if the accident wasn't my fault.  This was the first time that I have actually been shaken up after an accident and really didn't feel like driving around after that.  Before I jumped back on the phone with Farmers Insurance I went down to my insurance company (Allstate) and asked if I was covered through them.  They said I was that it would be like I was driving my (wounded) normal car.  So I bypassed Farmers and picked up my rental.  I was just livid that they were not going to cover my rental car when I was not at fault for the accident.  The nerve.  I have yet to see if they are going to cover the damages to my car or total it yet.  The joy.  Since I am not yet done dealing with Farmers I will give them some benefit of the doubt and give them 2 stars.

Update: Farmers totaled my car out and after they paid out my check would not pay for my rental.  I asked them how I was supposed to buy a new car without a car to go shopping in and they said it wasn't their problem.  WRONG!  It is there problem.  Their customer rear ended me and their customer flipped my world upside down.  I was whole before my accident and now I am completely stressed out.  I missed work and had to put my life on hold.  The rental I had did not allow dogs in the rental car.  Well I'm sorry but that puts my life on hold since my dog is a big part of my life.  I wasn't supposed to take him to the vet when he tore of a nail but I said screw it.  I should have been allowed to have my dog in the car and the insurance should have paid to have the vehicle cleaned afterwords.  I had planned to take my dog with me on Thanksgiving vacation too.  The insurance should do everything to make my life whole again.  This accident was not my fault and I had to change everything because the other persons insurance would not step up to their responsibility.

In response to StephanieAngel's comment from Sep 21, 2009 at 2:59PM:

That's lame. There's nothing worse than getting rude customer service reps. Argh.

Plus they're agents are incredibly rude over the phone. They act nice then backlash.

I'm dealing with the same thing, except they pulled out in front of me while I was at full speed through a light. They keep stating I was negligent and helped to cause the accident, when there's a police report STATING I WAS NOT AT FAULT. I had to fax the report because they didn't bother getting it themselves. They don't care about anything except their own clients and wont pay for ANYTHING!

I totally agree with you. Farmers insurance do not give a rat's @$$ about people.
