A great company or a great front?

I worked for this company for seven years and though I must say the majority of the time it was a great company until I started seeing how they treat their customers. I was there when they were turning down Katrina survivors and not helping due to the water damage and although I undestand that you must have flood insurance, the household insurance should have covered the house and items within, but due to the water damage, it was not. There have been other times and disasters that I have witnessed where the company just skimped on paying out and these poor people had been paying this company for years and years and been faithful to the company, regardless of price hikes. Why, after so many years of coverage, does a company do this to someone?
