Three years ago when I bought my house I wanted to consolidate my insurance coverage so that both my house and vehicles were insured by the same company. So after a few weeks of shopping around I decided that Kansas Farm Bureau would make the best choice for me. I saved almost $800 by going with them for all my needs.

Kansas Farm Bureau

Unlike any other company I have been with you must be a member of Farm Bureau in order to utilize their services, this costs $35 per year. With them saving me so much money it is a small price to pay for this membership. The true test came not 2 months after I moved in my house. I heard a small dripping one day and after about an hour under the house I found the culprit. One of my water lines had sprung a leak and I called Farm Bureau to find out the procedure I needed to go through.

Not being familiar with Kansas I didn't know any plumbers but was given a list of 4 that they dealt with so I started calling. I found one that could be out within the hour so we set it up. Unfortunately the leak wasn't the only problem, the water had spread under the floors and it needed to be addressed. Too make a very long story short it wound up causing major damage and I had to have 3 floors replaced, my fireplace removed to access damage and a lot of mold issues that needed to be addressed as well.

Farm Bureau stood with me and help negotiate with the 2 contractors and the problem was fixed. They paid promptly and my rates never went up from all of this. Then we got a vehicle for our 17 year old son and Farm Bureau took care of everything and even with his age I got a policy for $400 a year to cover his vehicle. They have called me every 6 months to make sure my needs are being met and my insurance.

I can also drive to their office in about 10 minutes so they are also very convenient for me. Speaking of convenient I have all my payments deducted straight from my bank so I don't have to worry about missing a payment or paying late.

With your membership you do get some perks for your money. They have buyer programs with General Motors as well as Hotel/Motel discounts to various chains. Cell phone plans are another advantage along with Free $1,000 accident and dismemberment insurance. You also get a free magazine every month with news from around your state.

Bottom Line

I have read some reviews of Farm Bureau that say they are no good or do bad things, I find that this is the agents that are dealt with and not the company themselves. No insurance company has a 100% trouble free agent system and that is not the fault of the company. My agent has been with them for almost 25 years and I trust him to do good for me and he has.

No matter which company you are with if your agent is not doing good then switch agents before you determine the company is at fault. Most every company out there is going to fight for you to keep your business. They will do anything within reason to keep you happy, so call the company and iron out any problems before they reach the breaking point. I am a proud member of the Kansas Farm Bureau and I would recommend them to anyone that wants a fair shake and good prices on both Homeowners and Vehicle Insurance.

Dang that ain't good at all ;( My son got a ticket but we paid to have it deferred ($300) but it will be worth it in the long run. He gets another and my foot goes where the sun don't shine....;)

And I'll bet an organization like the Kansas Farm Bureau doesn't outsource their customer service lines to low bidders in India, like sleazy big corporations do.

We use Farm Bureau too. The only problem we have had is they excluded my oldest daughter from driving our vehicles after she had an accident right after learning to drive. Nice review.
