Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer Review Summary

Reviewers don't agree on Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. On the one side are the fans that liked the quirkiness and humor of a "good clean, fun movie." On the other side are the detractors that don't feel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer lived up to its hype, finding that while the original Fantastic Four spent "too much time on back story, this movie did not spend enough." The Silver Surfer is an alien that comes to earth causing molecular anomalies. It's the Fantastic Four (played by Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans, and Ioan Gruffudd) that are called on to save the day. Even comic book fans are split, as while some were "pleasantly surprised" at how the Silver Surfer storyline was handled, others found Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer "smacked of an unfinished product" with "silly dialogue, cringe inducing moments."

I waited for the dvd to come out, as I usually do, to see this movie.  I loved it.  The action is great, the silver surfer was awesome.  It was a bit quirky, but comic book and cartoon fans have grown to expect that.  Humor was prevalent which added to the movie.

Bottom-Line: While Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is not something I would run to the theater to see, it is okay fair for rainy Friday night packed with reruns.

Somewhat tired, but this one's for the comic book fans.

This movie was one of those, that when I saw the first one and heard about a sequel, I wasn't very impressed. I just didn't think that there would be enough of a fan base for another one to do well in the box office. But it seems I was wrong, and after seeing it, I'm pleasantly surprised.

The plot goes something like this: all is well on planet earth until an alien being, the Silver Surfer, comes down and begins to cause molecular anomalies all over the planet. When the Fantastic Four learn that 8 days after the Silver Surfer arrives on a planet, it dies, they have to find a way to save the Earth...

What a dissapointment.

 I was SO glad I did not see this in the theatres. As many problems as the first one had, it was at least true to the FF family, warts and all. This was like a rushed attempt and it SMACKED of an unfilnished product.

Silly dialogue, cringe inducing moments with Doc Doom on the Surfer's bored... er, I mean board. "Let's go for a spin?" Yikes. How did this movie get out of the editing room?

I love this particular Genre and am a sucker for great writing (See: Firefly, Serenity, X-men 1 and 2) so it's VERY painful to see half-hearted attempts at some potentially great story-lines...

This might not be fair because of all the great movies based on comic books that came out this year, but Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer can't be put in the same catergory as most of the others. It topped the first Fantastic Four movie, this much is true. Did it have me on the edge of my seat waiting for what was coming next? Not exactly. Did it bore me to tears? That's also a no. It was decent and that's about all I can say. Not as memorable as the other summer hits, such as "Dark Knight". (But then is it even fair to compare this movie to that one?) What a disappointment!

Really...too bad I couldn't give it less than 1 star.  It hurts to say this, because FF was my favorite comic growing up, but I hope they just give it up.  The first movie was OK, fun.  This one, which should have been incredible (they had Galactus & the Silver Surfer, for crying out loud!), was an absolute groaner.  Don't want to write more; it's just painful to remember.

Not usually a big fan of the "comic book" type films but this one kept me interested. You can't help but love the characters. The story line did seem a bit old, but then again, what else do superheros have to do but to save the world. The Silver Surfer was actually kick butt and the ending of course left the window open for yet another adventure of the Fantastic Four.

So... I watched the second Fantasic Four in the movie theater and almost fell alseep. The plot is so predictable and it just drags on. The lines were horrible as well.
