Most HelpfulSocial networking sites are all the rage in the younger generation, and sometimes we "elders" feel left out. So I decided to find out what all of the excitement was about concerning Facebook; it started out as a mild curiosity but it has now turned into a near-obsession, and dare I say fun.
Facebook...

Most HelpfulA friend of mine sent me an email inviting me to join Facebook and become their friend. I had heard of the website before but had not idea what it was like. I tried to look at my friend's profile but was not able to unless I opened up an account. I put it off for a while and about two weeks ago,...
review »I was "early on" with Facebook. I had an "in" when the space was restricted to college users only. I was along for the ride when they opened it up to high school kids and now that the gates have been thrown wide open - anyone can sign up.
My account is buried. I won't go into details. I just needed one to pick up some photos (with permission). If I'm lurking there (not really - but you get the idea), imagine who else might be. I was concerned about this before they opened the site to the general public. I figured if I could slip in and not looking for trouble, then imagine someone who was really...
review »Ever since I first "connected" to the Internet in the late summer of 1999, one of my top reasons for being online was to socialize a bit more than I do in what's come to be known as IRL (Netspeak for "in real life").
Perhaps if I had gotten over my deep-seated phobia of driving and I wasn't so darn shy "IRL", things would have been far different, and to me the Internet would have been, for a while anyway, an interesting tool to simply look up information in and, perhaps, find employment as a freelance writer or something related to my writing skills.
But because the metro area where I live is so...
review »I finally gave in and joined Facebook, yes, I can be found on there. The funny thing is I am on the Internet all the time - usually working or just staying in touch with people so thought, "Hey maybe Facebook can help me do both at the same time?" Did it?
Everyone pretty much knows that Facebook is an online networking and social site where people can meet and greet, make new friends, stay in touch with old, promote your business or even yourself. And it does do all those things. You can even make donations to your favorite charties or exchange
What do I like about Facebook?
My friends were on Facebook for awhile, but I said I already had Myspace to deal with, so didn't want another site. Then one day, my husband signed up. Now most my friends, and my husband, were all on Facebook so finally I signed up. After a few months of use, I now use Facebook as my primary way of keeping in touch with friends, even more than email!
Myspace vs Facebook, What's the difference? Well Facebook and Myspace do offer a lot of the same features, Myspace more or less makes you look for your friends activities where as Facebook keeps you constantly aware of any activity your top...
review »UPDATED REVIEW!!!I was on Facebook for a while. I found it to be tedious and burdensome, so I de-activated my profile. I stopped going on there in April of 2009. In September of 2009, I decided to get back on Facebook and see if I liked it any better. Here are my previous beefs with Facebook and how they were improved:
First problem: Anyone can see your photo albums. If a friend comments on your photo, all their friends can see the album. Then if that friend comments, all of their friends can see it, so basically a photo can end up going viral all over Facebook.
Solution: You can set privacy levels...
review »I got started with facebook a couple of years ago when it was just open to college students, and I liked the website a lot more when it was like that. It is a great way to connect with people that you go to school with or went to school with in the past. I reconnected with a lot of my old friends that way, and it was awesome. I also like how we can add photo albums, which is very easy to do on facebook.
Then they opened the website up to everyone, and it has started to turn into a website like myspace, where people become like spammers, asking anyone and everyone to be their friends. They have...
review »I have tried My Space, but found it to be a little "young" for me. I now have a Facebook page and am enjoying finding old friends and co workers. It's a great way to keep in touch with pictures, and blogging about what is going on in your life. I have found numerous people I have lost contact with in the past 10 years and am having a blast finding out what is going on with them and seeing pictures of their families. I play Scrabble on Facebook with those in my friends list or even with people I don't know. I am not into all the quizzes or "hugging" applications, but I like the aspect that the...
review »I became a facebook member my senior year of high school, because back then you needed a college email address in order to join, and I loved it! I thought it was awesome that you could add friends, write messages that were private, or leave public one's on a person's wall, make photo albums, and tell people a little about yourself. I became addicted very quickly.
To this day (about 3 years later) I am still a facebook addict- I'll check it like 7 times a day easily, which isn't the best thing when I have hw to do and tests to study for. But Facebook isn't what it used to be, and it's kind...
review »Facebook is a great way to stick your nose into the lives of people you wouldn't normally talk to. Hence the "fake" friends for my title. I do have "real" friends on facebook, but there are also a lot of the "fake" ones. Some of it is just me wanting to see what they have been doing since I last seen them (like HS classmates) and some of my "friends" are people I used to be friends with but things like time or moving has made that impossible till now.
Ok there are also neat games that you can play with your friends, but your profile is not ever going to be as cool as on myspace...HOWEVER....I...
