Very short...  I went to Facebook.  In order to sign up, they ask for your name, email address, password, sex and birthday over a NON-SECURE web site.  I don't think so!

Ever heard the term "Identity Theft"?  A person with the right know-how could be in your bank account in no time at all.

You should poke around (or prob not). There are things there that ought not be shown to the world. Even if a profile is locked to private, friends can tag photos (with names) at parties and such that others can see. I teach at a college where FaceBook took off - not the specific college but with that age group. Kids show me stuff at this site that blows my mind. I tell them not to get caught up in this, because a potential employer would be none too thrilled finding a naked or drunken party pic which is very easy to do. Private is none too private when some are locked and others not.

It's not obvious at all, but the page html source shows that the info is sent over a secure connection when you submit the form. They really should call that out, I can see how it would (and should) cause concern!
