My friends were on Facebook for awhile, but I said I already had Myspace to deal with, so didn't want another site. Then one day, my husband signed up. Now most my friends, and my husband, were all on Facebook so finally I signed up. After a few months of use, I now use Facebook as my primary way of keeping in touch with friends, even more than email!
Myspace vs Facebook, What's the difference? Well Facebook and Myspace do offer a lot of the same features, Myspace more or less makes you look for your friends activities where as Facebook keeps you constantly aware of any activity your top friends, or even all your friends, have made. If my friends post a comment, a photo, or even if they take a quiz, my news feed let's me know.
Where Myspace is all about showing your personality with personalized pages and colorful designs, Facebook is all about keeping in the loop with your friends. Facebook doesn't let you personalize your color schemes or add images and change things around. They let you do some customizations, but overall everyone's page is pretty much the same. This is actually a GREAT thing! I was getting so tired of the mess at Myspace. People would put so much junk on their pages that they were very slow to load.
Facebook makes things easy and quick to update. One of the most fun things my friends do is post status updates throughout the day. Then your friends can see "Suzanne is.... sleepy today!" It's a fun way to keep up with a variety of things your friends are doing and what they are up to. It usually leads to some fun comments to as people sometimes are wondering what your status update means :)
Myspace and Facebook both let you post photos, but in my experience it's much easier to post the on Facebook! Within minutes I have no photos or new albums, and everyone on my friends list gets a news feed that I have added these items. I almost always get at least a few comments on new photos and it is nice to know people are actually viewing them.
Facebook is much more user friendly when it comes to hooking up with old friends. At Myspace, I found a lot of times people from high schol would become my online-friend, and then we would never talk to each other. Sinc Facebook shows constant news feed from all your friends, it makes it so easy to say even a one liner to your buds every now and then. I feel like facebook makes it so much easier to keep in touch with people you may have lost touch with.
Regardless of what anyone says, Facebook is great for any age. I have a lot of family members on there and it's become a great place to see photos of their kids or just of them. Myspace did always seem geared towards teeny-boopers since they allowed you to make things so colorful and had a lot of younger themes, however Facebook does not seem like a teeny-booper site. There are a lot of adults on there and no one should feel like they are too old for a Facebok account.
Keep it private, and you'll enjoy it! I keep my page private so only friends can see it. This is mostly for security reasons as I don't want the world to know my day o day activities. I've found that fewer and fewer people are making their pages public. Facebook is great for networking with people you KNOW but I don't see it as a place to meet people.
Quizzes and Apps and more! Facebook let's you play around and add many fun apps to play with as well as quizzes and other fun things. These are nothing special, but they do add some fun to the site and when I'm really bored I can play the pirate game and attack my friends :)
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead f 5 is because i is a bit confusing. Many people dislike the recent layout changes, and it does take some getting used to when you first sign up. Over time you'll be an expert at your favorite features, but some of the other features will still go over your head. A for keeping touch, it's easy enough if that's the only reason you are there. There are a lot of other features I haven't even explored, so you can see it's more than just a chat site. Enjoy!!
