FURminator Large Review Summary

The FURminator deShedding Tool is "the most amazing grooming tool ever" according to our pet owners. They report that this sturdy product really grabs the undercoat and loose fur and that it removes a lot of fur at once. It can be used on both cats and dogs, though some cats don't enjoy their experience with the FURminator Large. Although our reviewers agree that the FURminator is expensive, they say that it is "worth every penny" and that it "really cuts down on the fur on the floor and furniture." If you are looking for something to deal with cat and dog fur, our reviewers highly recommend the FURminator Grooming Tool.

I have a Golden Retriever named Burger.  He is so very sweet and gentle.  His coat is beautiful, but he sheds....a lot!!!  We changed his diet a while ago which helps with his shedding, but nevertheless, because of his breed, it was never-ending battle.  That is, until I purchased the FURminator... review »

I was really excited about this tool when it first hit the market.  Being that I am a groomer I was really looking forward to pulling out dead coat quickly.  All the tool is, is a #40 blade with rubber around it.  I don't get near the hair out as quickly as I do with a coat king and I just don't think... review »

The Furminator is one of the best inventions for pets that I have seen in a long time. It is durable, easy to use and really, really works. It pulls the loose undercoat fur out...this is the fur that usually ends up on your floors and furniture.

We have 2 cats and 1 labrador and they are all inside the house. So you can imagine the fur flying around here.

But once my husband brought this home to me to use...the amount of fur has been cut way down.

It is a little pricey, but well worth the money.

Okay I'll admit that I don't own The FURminator, my dog is way too short haired for it.  However, my sister does and I am totally obsessed with the tool everytime I go to her house.  I'm thinking of working at a groomers or vet office just so I can use The FURminator.  Heck I'll volunteer my time to be able to use this bad boy and with the soft grip handle I could go for hours.

Why the FURminator works so great:  It is a metal comb, yes, but it doesn't actually agitate the dogs skin like other metal brushes, combs, etc.  It works to get all the loose fur picked up and not just the top coat,...

I just got the Furminator just the other day and I love it!!!

I have multiple cats and clean a lot of hairballs, especially in the summer.

The Furminator is a special comb that gets the loose hair and the pet's undercoat to significantly reduce shedding.  My cats love it, too, and it's also great for dogs.

It comes in different sizes to accomodate your pet's size.

My only recommendation is to use it outside or on a hard floor surface because fur flies everywhere and will stick to your carpet/clothing, etc.

Overall, it is an excellent product!!!

WOO HOO!  Another helper in the big bad world of cat hair:)  Thank goodness Furminator has come out with this great gadget!  I received mine as  a gift..and a great gift at that.  Being the owner (or perhaps my CAT is my owner) of a long haired beautiful baby, cat hair is always a problem.  I've joked that no meal is complete unless there is at least one hair in it..lol.  With the furminator, my cat loves being 'brushed' while it eliminates the excess loose hair...fewer hairballs, less shedding all over the house.  AWESOME!

Its pricey but I use it weekly on the cat and dog and it reduces the amount of sweeping and vacuuming you have to do.  It also reduces the amount of hair in the air-conditioning  vent and I think it helps allergies.  Has also made the cat's hairball issues better.

What pet brush could be worth $35? The Furminator! I was shocked at how much hair comes off my cats with this brush. I vacuum several times a week and still had little patches of hair around the house until buying this brush. I've cut my vacuuming by at least half and the floors look better than before.

I used to clean up at least one, usually two hairballs a week (have two cats, one medium-length hair, one long-haired) off the carpet, and that's even feeding them Science Diet Hairball Formula. After using the Furminator once a week for the past month, I've cleaned up two total!

 This brush...

I have a pure Rottweiler, short coat and a Rottweiler/Newfiland, medium to long coat.  This tool is WONDERFUL!!  It gets the under coat our and the top coat is not harmed.  Their coat feels so good when you are done grooming them.  I groom every week and they just love it - they see me get the Furminator out and they race to the door.

We also have two very large cats, short coat.  They think it is great also and know when I get it out  - it is a good time coming.

Really cuts down on the fur on the floor/furniture!!

The fur really comes out so be prepared with a large sack or bucket to put...

I was skeptical at first until I read the review in a magazine and the testimonials on-line.  Although it is pricy at retail stores, it is cheaper through eBay.  It is well-built and easy to maneuver.  The teeth are fine and sharp without cutting the fur.  The brush digs down to the undercoat to remove that stubborn shedded fur that plagues furniture and all of my black clothes!  My cats love how it feels and come running when the see me pick it up.  I was most surprised how much fur came off of my short hair cats.  A good buy that will last a lifetime.

This Furminator Furminator Deshedding Tool for Pets is the greatest! I have a Samoyed, a breed that has that thick undercoat that "blows" twice a year. If the deshedding tool isn't used fairly often, then it gets matted and then becomes quite a job for me and a misery for the dog. However, knowing this, it is easy enough to just keep up with it and keep myself and the dog happy. He actually loves it when I work with his fur because not only is he proud to be well-groomed, he is also getting loads of love and attention.

The Furminator really does help de-shed your pet.  I am amazed everytime I use this product on my dogs, at the amount of hair that comes out of each one of them.  The way this product is designed, it pulls out the dead under coat from your dog.  It really does help with the amount of fur that they shed.  The only trick to this product is getting your pet to sit still!

From what I have read, this works by combing out the undercoat.  It works well, if you are willing to put in the time. The comb/blade is thin and it takes many strokes to get hair out.  It removes small layers of hair at a time and they are often static-y...so I always end up with a mess all over the room.  It is costly and so are the replacement blades.  After using, my dogs coats are shiny and I only need to use the furminator about once a month.  You have to be careful because the blade is sharp and it hurts the dogs skin if you brush too deep.

Have you ever vacuumed dog hair up only to turn around and find it back on the floor like your vacuum had never been there?  I never thought there would be an answer to the dog hair that found its way in every nook and cranny of my home.  I would faithfully brush my dog's coat every day and it never seemed to help.  Then I saw the furminator in a store.  I assumed it was like all of the other brushes only much more expensive.  I was talking to my friend who is a groomer and she told me that I had to borrow one of hers because it was amazing

She explained that the furminator is not like...

We were reluctant to purchase a Furminator for quite a while because of the cost, but after seeing good review after good review, we couldn't resist.  We purchased our Furminator, took it home, and immediatly used it on our dogs.  Seeing that we have six dogs in our home, we knew that we had much work in front of us.

We soon discovered that the Furminator was the BEST dog hair removal tool we had ever seen or used, and believe me...we have purchased many of them throughout the years.  We started using it on our large long haired lab mix.  After 30 minutes and just brushing...

I saw a girl in the building where I live using it and asked her about it.  Brace yourself these are very expensive but they are stainless steel which is good.  Before I would work for hours on my lab Godiva getting out gobs of hair and never get anywhere close to getting it all.  The first time you use the brush on your dog heed their advice and go to the basement, garage, or outdoors because you will have more hair than you can ever imagine.  I made the mistake of brushing out the lab in my living room.  It is 12x20.  By the time I was finished the ENTIRE living room flor was covered with...
