FURminator Grooming Tool - Large Review Summary

The FURminator deShedding Tool is "the most amazing grooming tool ever" according to our pet owners. They report that this sturdy product really grabs the undercoat and loose fur and that it removes a lot of fur at once. It can be used on both cats and dogs, though some cats don't enjoy their experience with this grooming tool. Although our reviewers agree that the FURminator is expensive, they say that it is "worth every penny" and that it "really cuts down on the fur on the floor and furniture." If you are looking for something to deal with cat and dog fur, our reviewers highly recommend the FURminator.

Okay I'll admit that I don't own The FURminator, my dog is way too short haired for it.  However, my sister does and I am totally obsessed with the tool everytime I go to her house.  I'm thinking of working at a groomers or vet office just so I can use The FURminator.  Heck I'll volunteer my time... review »

I was really excited about this tool when it first hit the market.  Being that I am a groomer I was really looking forward to pulling out dead coat quickly.  All the tool is, is a #40 blade with rubber around it.  I don't get near the hair out as quickly as I do with a coat king and I just don't think... review »

I just got the Furminator just the other day and I love it!!!

I have multiple cats and clean a lot of hairballs, especially in the summer.

The Furminator is a special comb that gets the loose hair and the pet's undercoat to significantly reduce shedding.  My cats love it, too, and it's also great for dogs.

It comes in different sizes to accomodate your pet's size.

My only recommendation is to use it outside or on a hard floor surface because fur flies everywhere and will stick to your carpet/clothing, etc.

Overall, it is an excellent product!!!

I have a pure Rottweiler, short coat and a Rottweiler/Newfiland, medium to long coat.  This tool is WONDERFUL!!  It gets the under coat our and the top coat is not harmed.  Their coat feels so good when you are done grooming them.  I groom every week and they just love it - they see me get the Furminator out and they race to the door.

We also have two very large cats, short coat.  They think it is great also and know when I get it out  - it is a good time coming.

Really cuts down on the fur on the floor/furniture!!

The fur really comes out so be prepared with a large sack or bucket to put...

From what I have read, this works by combing out the undercoat.  It works well, if you are willing to put in the time. The comb/blade is thin and it takes many strokes to get hair out.  It removes small layers of hair at a time and they are often static-y...so I always end up with a mess all over the room.  It is costly and so are the replacement blades.  After using, my dogs coats are shiny and I only need to use the furminator about once a month.  You have to be careful because the blade is sharp and it hurts the dogs skin if you brush too deep.

Have you ever vacuumed dog hair up only to turn around and find it back on the floor like your vacuum had never been there?  I never thought there would be an answer to the dog hair that found its way in every nook and cranny of my home.  I would faithfully brush my dog's coat every day and it never seemed to help.  Then I saw the furminator in a store.  I assumed it was like all of the other brushes only much more expensive.  I was talking to my friend who is a groomer and she told me that I had to borrow one of hers because it was amazing

She explained that the furminator is not like...

We were reluctant to purchase a Furminator for quite a while because of the cost, but after seeing good review after good review, we couldn't resist.  We purchased our Furminator, took it home, and immediatly used it on our dogs.  Seeing that we have six dogs in our home, we knew that we had much work in front of us.

We soon discovered that the Furminator was the BEST dog hair removal tool we had ever seen or used, and believe me...we have purchased many of them throughout the years.  We started using it on our large long haired lab mix.  After 30 minutes and just brushing...

As a Groomer and slave to two hairy cats, i need the Furminator Shedless tool, i simply love it and use it on my own animals. Every month or so, the rest of the time i brush them at home and it keeps the shedding away.

The tool can be a bit scary to use at first, gotta apply the right kind of pressure and a *philistin* to the art of grooming can potentially hurt the animal if they press too hard while brushing so patience is recommended.

My cats are use to it by now so they don't hate it, cats in general don't like to be groomed (with the sometime exception). Like i said before, technique and patience....

I must admit that I knew about this product for more than a year before I actually broke down and bought one, as they are a bit expensive.

I hate that I waited !!  This is the best product ever!  I have 3 dogs of different breeds and sizes and they all enjoy this brush!

One of my dogs (who is a rescue) has always been afraid of being of brushes, but he actually comes and begs for this to be used on him.

The amount of fur that isn't on the carpet or furniture is absolutely amazing!

If you don't have a furminator, buy one today!

Winston really enjoys this shedding tool during our cuddle time once a week.  It really helps loosen the under coat and cuts down shedding in the house quiet a bit.  I have had it for a long time

With that rave review; it is annoying that the fur you take off just piles up and tends to make a mess.  It would be cool if there was some kind of suction that could pull it away so it isn't flying around as you brush.  It is expensive and unless I could find something like it that attaches to a vacuum I more than likely would buy it again.

I have a Norwegian Elkhound, one very compact, highly intelligent, gorgeous and HAIRY dog. She has both a long coat and a very prolific downy white undercoat that seemingly sheds 24/7. It's got a cotton ball texture; tufts of it stick out, and if you pull it, you get a pouf of very soft white down that is guaranteed to stick to you and everything in its path.

My former regimen was to use a rubber curry brush for the long outer coat, and (the part I hate), an undercoat rake. No matter how much I brush her, I'm covered with hair, and there's a grocery bag FULL of hair. It's an hour to two hour task,...

I have an 80 pound labrador retriever who love to cuddle with us on the couch or to lay on the couch by herself.  I have a dark chocolate brown couch and after a few minutes of her laying on it for a few minutes there would be white hair all over my couch, my blankets and me.  We looked at other products and couldn't find something that we liked that would do the job.  After looking for a tool that would take the loose fur out and make my house not look like it was growing it's own coat we found it!!!  The Furminator is wonderful for my lab.  During the summer we take her outside, sit on a... review »

The FURminator, what a find! A little back ground here:  I live with three dogs and two cats; two yellow Labs and a hyperactive (but loveable) Springer Spaniel pupply.  All indoor animals.  Added to the mix is a husband with allergies to both dogs and cats.  I was in constant clean mode trying to stay ahead of the dog hair, especially when the seasons change and the shedding really increased.  It seemed I could brush each dog daily and vacuum daily yet there was still little balls of dog hair floating around.  Black pants or sweaters were not worn by anyone in my family and a lint brush was...

THIS FURminator deShedding TOOL IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING I HAVE EVER SEEN AND USED. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT COMES OFF YOUR ANIMALS. I JOKE AND SAY IF I KEEP BRUSHING THEM THEY WILL BE BALD. (THEY WON'T BE) THIS TOOL HAS IMPROVED MY QUALITY OF LIFE. HAVING HARDWOOD FLOORS, 4 LARGE DOGS, AND 3 CATS, YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT ACCUMULATES IN THE HOUSE. EVER SINCE I HAVE USED THE DE SHEDDER, I ONLY HAVE TO CLEAN HAIR OFF THE FLOOR MAYBE TWICE A WEEK. THIS IS COMPARED TO BEFORE I GOT THE TOOL WHEN I WAS CLEANING HAIR 7 DAYS A WEEK OFF THE FLOORS. MY...

We love our Furminator!  It was recommended to us by a pet groomer.  When I saw the price, I was a bit hesitant.  Thinking about how much I have spent on cheaper animal brushes, I decided to buy it.  All the animals love it!  Mr. Kitty won't go to bed until he has been brushed.  He's a big gray fur ball, so it has really thinned out his coat quite a bit.  He must like it, or he wouldn't sit still for it.

We also use this on our 120 pound black lab.  He loves it, too.  The Furminator actually gets out those loose hairs that other brushes don't.  It makes having such a large animal in...
