Most HelpfulI have a pure Rottweiler, short coat and a Rottweiler/Newfiland, medium to long coat. This tool is WONDERFUL!! It gets the under coat our and the top coat is not harmed. Their coat feels so good when you are done grooming them. I groom every week and they just love it - they see me get the Furminator out and they race to the door.
We also have two very large cats, short coat. They think it is great also and know when I get it out - it is a good time coming.
Really cuts down on the fur on the floor/furniture!!
The fur really comes out so be prepared with a large sack or bucket to put...
review »From what I have read, this works by combing out the undercoat. It works well, if you are willing to put in the time. The comb/blade is thin and it takes many strokes to get hair out. It removes small layers of hair at a time and they are often static-y...so I always end up with a mess all over the room. It is costly and so are the replacement blades. After using, my dogs coats are shiny and I only need to use the furminator about once a month. You have to be careful because the blade is sharp and it hurts the dogs skin if you brush too deep.
Have you ever vacuumed dog hair up only to turn around and find it back on the floor like your vacuum had never been there? I never thought there would be an answer to the dog hair that found its way in every nook and cranny of my home. I would faithfully brush my dog's coat every day and it never seemed to help. Then I saw the furminator in a store. I assumed it was like all of the other brushes only much more expensive. I was talking to my friend who is a groomer and she told me that I had to borrow one of hers because it was amazing
She explained that the furminator is not like...
review »We were reluctant to purchase a Furminator for quite a while because of the cost, but after seeing good review after good review, we couldn't resist. We purchased our Furminator, took it home, and immediatly used it on our dogs. Seeing that we have six dogs in our home, we knew that we had much work in front of us.
We soon discovered that the Furminator was the BEST dog hair removal tool we had ever seen or used, and believe me...we have purchased many of them throughout the years. We started using it on our large long haired lab mix. After 30 minutes and just brushing...
review »I must admit that I knew about this product for more than a year before I actually broke down and bought one, as they are a bit expensive.
I hate that I waited !! This is the best product ever! I have 3 dogs of different breeds and sizes and they all enjoy this brush!
One of my dogs (who is a rescue) has always been afraid of being of brushes, but he actually comes and begs for this to be used on him.
The amount of fur that isn't on the carpet or furniture is absolutely amazing!
If you don't have a furminator, buy one today!
Winston really enjoys this shedding tool during our cuddle time once a week. It really helps loosen the under coat and cuts down shedding in the house quiet a bit. I have had it for a long time
With that rave review; it is annoying that the fur you take off just piles up and tends to make a mess. It would be cool if there was some kind of suction that could pull it away so it isn't flying around as you brush. It is expensive and unless I could find something like it that attaches to a vacuum I more than likely would buy it again.
My former regimen was to use a rubber curry brush for the long outer coat, and (the part I hate), an undercoat rake. No matter how much I brush her, I'm covered with hair, and there's a grocery bag FULL of hair. It's an hour to two hour task,...
review »The FURminator, what a find! A little back ground here: I live with three dogs and two cats; two yellow Labs and a hyperactive (but loveable) Springer Spaniel pupply. All indoor animals. Added to the mix is a husband with allergies to both dogs and cats. I was in constant clean mode trying to stay ahead of the dog hair, especially when the seasons change and the shedding really increased. It seemed I could brush each dog daily and vacuum daily yet there was still little balls of dog hair floating around. Black pants or sweaters were not worn by anyone in my family and a lint brush was...
review »THIS FURminator deShedding TOOL IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING I HAVE EVER SEEN AND USED. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT COMES OFF YOUR ANIMALS. I JOKE AND SAY IF I KEEP BRUSHING THEM THEY WILL BE BALD. (THEY WON'T BE) THIS TOOL HAS IMPROVED MY QUALITY OF LIFE. HAVING HARDWOOD FLOORS, 4 LARGE DOGS, AND 3 CATS, YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT ACCUMULATES IN THE HOUSE. EVER SINCE I HAVE USED THE DE SHEDDER, I ONLY HAVE TO CLEAN HAIR OFF THE FLOOR MAYBE TWICE A WEEK. THIS IS COMPARED TO BEFORE I GOT THE TOOL WHEN I WAS CLEANING HAIR 7 DAYS A WEEK OFF THE FLOORS. MY...
review »We love our Furminator! It was recommended to us by a pet groomer. When I saw the price, I was a bit hesitant. Thinking about how much I have spent on cheaper animal brushes, I decided to buy it. All the animals love it! Mr. Kitty won't go to bed until he has been brushed. He's a big gray fur ball, so it has really thinned out his coat quite a bit. He must like it, or he wouldn't sit still for it.
We also use this on our 120 pound black lab. He loves it, too. The Furminator actually gets out those loose hairs that other brushes don't. It makes having such a large animal in...
