Finepix AV100 is average
I purchased this camera to replace my 3 year old Fujifilm Finepix A340. This camera is a basic point and shoot camera that fits to shirt pocket easily. It grips nicely to the hand and feels sturdy. Picture quality is up to ISO 400. Anything above has lot of noise and the picture is almost useless for printing. Flash is quite effective for indoor pictures when it is dark. Shutter lag time is very small. I have experienced long lag times in Kodak cameras, but this one responses almost immediately when the button is pressed. It uses AA batteries. Alkaline batteries won't last long, so it is better to use rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. 2500mAH batteries will last for about 100 pictures with flash. Face recognition works well, but sometimes it takes time. Scene Recognition mode is nice, but it eats battery a lot! I'm not satisfied with its' video recording. Videos have lot of noise and the file sizes are too big (video compression is poor.) If you are looking for a basic camera and shoot pictures in indoors and when lot of light is available and in a tight budget, go for this camera. But if you like better quality pictures, even in dark places, this camera is not for you.
