For Generation X folks this has been a bad week with the loss of Michael Jackson. Just hours before his passing another icon passed away....one that cannot be overlooked!
Farrah Fawcett was every growing boys (and man come to think of it) dream in the 70's. Who could forget that long blond beautiful hair that flowed thru her one and only full season on Charlie's Angels. Then there's is that ICONIC poster in that red swimsuit that, I believe, is still the one that has sold the most ever. She was, in a word, BEAUTIFUL but for Farrah beauty was not enough for her. Farrah wanted to be known for more than a beautiful blond. She wanted to be taken serious as an actress and that very chance came with Extremities (1986). Susan Sarandon stared in the off broadway play and Farrah jumped at the chance to play when Sarandon left. Farrah plays Marjorie, a woman who is attacked in her home and manages to turn the tables on her attacker. The role demanded that Farrah be taken seriously and her performance and the heart it contained made it crystal clear. In the movie version you are sucked in completely with her powerful display of raw and realistic emotion from beginning to the very end. If Farrrah wanted to be looked at differently then this was her masterpiece that made it possible.
